Ah the classic skeleton to character step by step. Art wouldn't really be art without it, would it?

I appreciated this lesson. If I were you,IΒ΄m make more this.
Maybe you should do a inquire among the Las Lindas fans,to know what are the most popular characters and so,show to everyone how draw them.

I've heard of that myself Thornblade, but I've never been able to actually get it right. My conclusion is that modern scanners can pick up anything, the tip probably originated from past scanners where they were developed to ignore the color. You CAN however, with a good scanner and know-how, instruct the printer to filter out the blue, or just modify it in an art program later to get rid of it.

...it looks like it was sketched on a computer...

Nah, this is pencil work.

You know, they'll never see your reply because you replied to me? XD And this looks like how my sketches look in oC, it's too smooth for pencil. (I zoomed in the full-size more)

Well I was pretty sure I saw faded marks that the eraser didn't quite get rid of, which is why I came to the pencilwork conclusion.

If you have a soft eraser in an art program, that happens too xD

Even after taking a crack at it, I still find it tough to actually get a preliminary drawing routine down. This helped a lot, but there's just something that keeps holding me back from actually doing a pose right while using the "lines and shapes" approach.
Whatever the case, this extra effort in explaining how to draw my favorite pretty kitty was awesome. Again, thanks for it.

Kuurion In reply to Zeikier [2010-12-21 02:27:24 +0000 UTC]
The biggest part is just gaining an innate sense of understanding about how a body looks and moves. Even through a stylized approach such as Chalo's or my own (or any cartoonist really), it's all being modified off of the base, realistic figure to start with. It's tough to do it without observational drawing, like sketching actual people and getting their proportions right, or textbook anatomy study.
I know because I've done both myself, and I'm still just getting started!! All it takes is a ton of practice.

Zeikier In reply to Kuurion [2010-12-21 03:26:28 +0000 UTC]
Truly, I should try thumbing through my anatomy books to see if they present a decent enough overview of this process. That, and I should stick to making preliminary drawings outside of photoshop. My attempts at this made for a rather stunted presentation of my current abilities as an artist.
[link] My attempt if you're curious.
