Anthropotastic! That actually helps a lot. I usually only draw humans, but this tutorial is simple enough and straightforward enough that even a beginner like me can follow it easily. Thanks for the help!

yeah, with dogs you'll have to make a longer muzzle, but I use this method for pretty much every species.
