Hmm, don't think that he (they) look more feline than canine:

It's a fantasy creature with features of both, catlike feet and tail and dog like body.
When I had to draw him I started with a research cause I didn't know this character before and wasn't sure how to draw him.
In wiki articles he was described as 'wolflike species'.
Soo.. I think there's some space for interpretation ;>

And now second half.
Red is neither cat nor dog. In an early game a child calls him a doggy, but yeah that isn't really anything.
It was never stated what exactly he is and you will find many discussions online about it.
Red has a few catlike attributes (long tail, cat like paws ect.) and a few canine attributes (howling, ears ect.)
I guess the way he gets draw is up to the artist and what they prefer.
To me red is a bit more cat like than what chalu draw him, but I still like her interpretation. :>
