Did you use any references for this? It looks very nice. I don't know if I like the tail, but I love the rest of the body and head for sure.
What is that around its neck? I can't tell if they are quills like on a porcupine, or scales. I like them though.

I saw "Riddik" some days ago. Those cats/dogs in the prison influenced it a lot. I think it's a mix of both, scales over the quills for breathing.

That is what it reminded me of! Nice, very nice. An I agree with EccoGeek, different angels would be nice.
I don't know about the darker color, but if you could give it an environment and fiddle with the lighting it would look twice as awesome.
Even though I am sure you weren't wanting to go that far with it haha.
