Description
Two years after her return from a brutal 103 days of severe punishment at Quarry Camp-- punishment for not reporting an escape attempt she knew nothing about by two inmates from her block she did not know-- Amy had resumed something close to her existence before. She still worked mostly at clerical and accounting duties in the prison office and outbuildings.

Amy still had to endure the occasional random disciplinary measure: extra long roll calls, forced marches, whippings, and even time in both a "kennel cell" and a hot box. She was classified as an "Escape Risk" which meant that if she worked outside the complex she was required to be fitted with several pieces of "escape prevention" punishment equipment such as a ball and chain, a stumble bar, and clown makeup. This definitely discouraged running off, and it made her very visible.

On one occasion, Amy made up part of a labor crew assigned to clean up and dispose of hazardous material. She didn't have to touch the waste, instead she logged in the sealed containers using a phone. For protection, and yet more escape prevention, she wore rubber "hoof boots'' that compelled her to walk with her toes pointing down-- uncomfortable at first, but she got used to it. She wore rubber mitts that protected her hands, but also limited her dexterity so she used the voice control mode on the phone. When she wasn't scanning, she kept herself looking busy by sweeping debris.
