Wait, I thought Whamon and Divermon were Champions, not Ultimates.

Whamon's a Champion, Divermon's an Ultimate.

No, Whamon is actually an ultimate level Digimon.

Then how come he is an ultimate in games? In Digimon World Dawn/Dusk he digivolves from Dolphmon who is a champion level.

The games actually vary quite a lot. In the first Digimon World he digivolves from either Palmon or Betamon. sadly Dan and Dusk were never releasedΒ inΒ the U.K so I haven't played them.

Whamon appeared as a Champ in Digimon World and the V-Pets along with other media that didn't include Mega-level guys yet IIRC, but was depicted as an ultimate from then on, I believe. Either is up to your interpretation I think but I've always interpreted him as an Ultimate once Dolphmon existed personally!
As for Divermon, I believe he was always an ultimate.Β

I can see all of these, although I had always hoped they would someday make a clear and perfect mega form for Dragomon and MarineDevimon like a Cthulhumon or something, its like Devidramon, neat Digimon but deserves something fitting its own path.

Yeah I know a lot of people feel that way. owo;;; Yeah far as I know Pukumon is the closest thing to Dragomon's '''official''' Mega, based on the old Vpets... I think the resemblance is mainly in the colors of the skin and eyes, and in the old sprites:Β lcd.wtw-x.net/PenProfiles
I think Neptunmon also works pretty well as an evolution for Dragomon tho! and I feel like Leviamon works pretty well for MarineDevimon... Not sure who else for him tho, tbh .3.

By looks I think Plesiomon would be good after Zudomon, since he looks close to Gomamon.

Rhuen1 In reply to Pyger-Switchblade21 [2016-04-19 20:10:17 +0000 UTC]
they did that for All Stars Rumble, but aside from Gomamon it doesn't fit the rest of the line, Adventure Tri went with Vikemon as Zudomon's megaform, making it about as official as possible.
In fact given the coloration and markings I'd be tempted if I worked on a Digimon game to stick Plesiomon after MarineDevimon.
Gesomon-MarineDevimon-Plesiomon.

Yeah a lot of people feel that way, but I feel the resemblance to Vikemon is stronger. Plesiomon as well was part of a prehistoric sea animal-themed line in the original V-pet it was featured in, (Coelamon (fossil fish) -> Scorpiomon (fossil arthropod) -> Plesiomon (fossil sea lizard)). So that was what I decided to go with! Of course either way works!

Why does Whamon become MarineAngemon and not Neptunemon?Β If I may ask.
π: 0 β©: 1
Chameleon-Veil In reply to user70 [2013-08-17 23:24:44 +0000 UTC]
Mainly because that's the evolution pattern that those two followed before Neptunmon was created, and for MarineAngemon, it still is IMO. Neptunmon has other things he can evolve from.Β

user70 In reply to Chameleon-Veil [2013-08-17 23:42:48 +0000 UTC]
True, but what fits Neptunmon besides Whamon?Β The only things that come to mind are Dagomon or Divermon and you used those already.

They both work fine, sure. Mermaimon is one that comes to mind (though some might find the gender change questionable, so I'll work on finding a way to address that), and Sagomon is another one I was considering. I'll have to look into it more, I think, I've been mainly focusing on the older lines.

I'm not sure if MarineAngemon would be the best one for Whamon. But aside that, I think this is a great chart.

I am not sure anymore.
Isn't Plesiomon mega of Gomamon and Vikemon mega of Armadillomon?
But,again Zudomon -> Vikemon have more sense.
π: 0 β©: 1
Chameleon-Veil In reply to Petronikus [2013-07-26 07:15:19 +0000 UTC]
It is hard to deny that Zudomon -> Vikemon makes a lot of sense.
Personally I'm not a huge fan of Zudomon -> Plesiomon; I don't think they really have much of a connection the way Scorpiomon and Plesiomon do. In the original V-pet and early games and such, the line was Coelamon -> Scorpiomon -> Plesiomon, all of whom have the unifying theme of being prehistoric sea animals.Β
You might notice that I did actually use Vikemon as Shakkoumon's Mega stage too, though. I'm not a huge fan of it either, but since I'm trying to portray 'official' (or most accurate or whatever) lines, I'm going with the evolution portrayed in the D3 Digivice toy, which was Armadillomon -> Ankylomon -> Shakkoumon -> Vikemon.Β
If that wasn't the 'official' portrayal, I might go with something like ClavisAngemon instead.Β
π: 0 β©: 1
Petronikus In reply to Chameleon-Veil [2013-07-26 12:36:14 +0000 UTC]
Yes, I saw Shakkoumon -> Vikemon.
For me, that's just makes no sense. I mean, angel or whatever Shakkoumon is digivolves to viking. Vikemon is related to ice and water, but Armadillomon and Patamon don't have anything in common with ice and water. I am maybe wrong.
One more question:
Is it important which attribute digimon have in your charts?
I mean, if rookie has virus attribute, does that mean that whole line must be with virus attributes?
π: 0 β©: 1
Chameleon-Veil In reply to Petronikus [2013-07-26 19:08:34 +0000 UTC]
I dunno, it doesn't make much sense to me either. I guess it's less the Ice element bit and more so the beast DNA that both Patamon and Ankylomon have combined with the armor DNA from Shakkoumon or something.Β
Regarding attribute... I do think it's important and I try to take it into account with mine, but honestly, it really varies. In some cases if you try to constrain yourself to a single attribute, I find that there's not much left to work with. I do try to avoid having all three attributes consecutively in the same line unless it's for a specific purpose or reason (as is the case IMO with D'Arcmon/Hippogryphomon/Murmuxmon).Β
Honestly I'm not sure why Digimon even have attributes at all. The Rock-paper-scissors aspect has never played a part in any game I've seen, and it doesn't seem to dictate what Digimon evolve to, so heck if I know why they even have them (maybe that's why they don't have types at all in Fusion/XW). I tried to reference them as much as I felt I could get away with, though.Β

Chameleon-Veil In reply to thecurrymaster [2013-06-02 06:27:36 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, it doesn't really matter though IMO. In the case of Crabmon's original line, it was Coelamon -> Scorpiomon -> Plesiomon, all of which are ancient marine animals-- coelacanth, anomalocarus, and plesiosaur. The binding factor between these guys isn't the type of animal they are so much as that prehistoric theme they represent, you know?
That's how I see, it anyway.
Thanks for all the comments and favorites.... =w='

The Crabmon line works pretty well, but that still leaves ShogunGeckomon, Dragomon, and MarineDevimon evolving into things that don't really suit them. Dragomon and MarineDevimon traditionally sort of share Pukamon as a mega, but I don't like it for either of them.
No problem. :3

Chameleon-Veil In reply to thecurrymaster [2013-06-02 07:16:53 +0000 UTC]
Those guys were never really given proper Megas outside their V-pet/card lines, yeah. Though interestingly, the Syakomon >> Dragomon line had pretty interestingly similar sprites in the V-pet, which might explain a thing or two if these were designed before the art was: [link]
That aside, I still think Pukumon works okay for Dragomon, since they both have the purple skin and red eyes, and Dragomon is pretty spiky underneath all his nasty tentacles. That aside, some people like Neptunemon as an evo for Dragomon, and that works okay too.

thecurrymaster In reply to Chameleon-Veil [2013-06-02 07:25:14 +0000 UTC]
You're right... the v-pet makes them look almost identical. o.o Interesting... and I completely forgot about Neptunemon, he may be the best Mega for Dragomon around.
What do you think is the best mega for ShogunGeckomon?? It's a problem that has always vexed me. Though I do somewhat like ShogunGeckomon - MetalPiranimon.

Chameleon-Veil In reply to thecurrymaster [2013-06-02 07:33:04 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, right? I did my research, haha.
ShogunGekomon -> MetalPiranhamon was mainly because they're some of the only freshwater aquatic Digimon around, so I figured it'd work. (Then again, it may not necessarily matter.... like, at all... *shrug*) ShogunGekomon -> MetalEtemon is the evo he originally had from the Nature Spirits V-pet, which if you look at it in the light of ShogunGeko's musical genes evolving, I guess sort of works, in that retro-Digimon-ish way.
He never really had a more fitting Mega designed for him than those two or any of the other aquatic Megas, though, yeah. *shrug* I suppose one could also consider him an evolutionary dead-end if one was so inclined.
