Description The camera kept changing the colour of the fabric idk

The reason you don't use a lot of tape is because it makes it really hard to pin and sew things (especially at the end). Also your pins will get really sticky.

Great tutorial! I'm gonna follow it for my cosplay But I have a question: can I use different fabrics for inside and outside?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chameleoncosplayteam In reply to Kuropun86 [2013-09-13 17:10:14 +0000 UTC]

Yes you can use different fabrics for inside and outside the hat. Usually for lined hats, they use lining (a more light weight and slippery fabric)

chameleoncosplayteam In reply to chukkaque [2012-10-31 20:53:52 +0000 UTC]

If you live in Canada not as much, but shipping overseas is more expensive. so roughly $35 +shipping and handling fees

How tall did you make the hat?
How wide is the brim from the head hole?
Basically, what are the measurements you used for the hat?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chameleoncosplayteam In reply to Nickompoop [2012-06-06 00:56:39 +0000 UTC]

Really it depends on your height, the circumference of your head, because everything you make must be proportionate to your body. I didn't really use exact measurements and did it by eye.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nickompoop In reply to chameleoncosplayteam [2012-06-13 04:43:15 +0000 UTC]

I figured it out. You should include the hat:height, what kind of plastic canvas to use for each section, and to use extra strong duct tape. I had some problems with my tape peeling off.

a marvelous tutorial!! i think i could manage something like that |'3 thanks for making~
by the way i have a question. could this method be used to make a hat similar to a tall soldier's hat? like on a nutcracker? or would a different kind of fabric/material be needed?

If it's not too much of a bother, pray tell, what type of fabric did you use?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chameleoncosplayteam In reply to Kasami-Kat [2011-07-13 03:09:04 +0000 UTC]

I made the hat, but I wasn't the one who bought the fabric (the Layton cosplayer did). She said it was suit fabric, but I guess that's not really specific haha
I don't think the type of fabric matters that much, as long as it's not too stiff. Try to get a relatively flexible material, it makes sewing directly on the hat infinitely easier.
For the most part, I think just focus on colour, really
Sorry I couldn't help more orz;;
