A couple of months back, I entered a bookmark competition for my local library. The theme was pretty open, as it just had to emulate the phrase "Communities Matter @ Your Library", so I was free to do whatever I wanted. This, of course, meant drawing raccoons

I entered this same competition last year and didn't even place, but I tried a new approach with digital art this year and I came in first place! My bookmark was printed this month and is now circulating around the libraries in my county. It's actually pretty awesome to see kids coming by, picking up my bookmark, and being encouraged to read. I never thought until now my art could be used for something like that.

I've been sitting on this art since I submitted my entry, not wanting to post it and maybe invalidate the judging, but I'm free to post it now that it's all over Hopefully you all like it and feel the need to pick up a book too!
