Description
This was my submission for the National Library Week Bookmark Contest at my local library this year... and I got first place!
It was rather fun to see my submission printed up on bookmarks and given out to tons of people, and it just felt good to have my work displayed in such a public and joyful way! There are few feelings comparable to having a kid run up to a selection of designs and excitedly point towards yours as the one they want to go home with.
The theme for this year was 'Libraries Lead'. My brain went immediately to two places... The first being pencils (lead... get it!?) and the second being a cute group of anthro kids following one another with books. I think I wisely chose the latter
Also, this was a subtle dig at all the folks I hear mispronouce the word 'Library' as 'Lie-berry'... I have now educated them!

Gene Weingarten recently complained that people keep dropping the first R, and he fears that it will go the same route as "February" in dictionaries. I won't worry until people start saying "libarian."

In truth, I don't mind THAT much about the pronunciation, but it is fascinating to me sometimes how people say it
