At Elsbridge, Thomas was shunting cars around to let off some steam (as he said) but the stopping goods was late which wasn't helping the tank engine's mood, when Stepney did arrive with the train, Thomas asked if he was delayed due to Bulgy, Stepney then started to explain about Caroline needing a new owner, but before Bulgy could even come into play, Thomas found the solution to both Caroline's safety and Helen Kyndley's first car, and between the coincidence and what he heard about Helen's "pickiness" Stepney's worry changed to confusion, but Thomas just tells him to not question coincidences, apologize to Bulgy for him, and that the bus should tell the Kyndley's to head to Crock scrapyard after Helen passes her driver's test at the Knapford DMV, and Stepney goes along with it because he doesn't really have a plan b.
