Description
Please click to full-view.~AzKailani wrote to me the other day, asking if I could give some tips on how to draw, particularly on how I do chibi-style. I've always believed that my style is not really anything special (as the characters look more like I've drawn them as kids than actual chibi), but I told her that I'd try to show her how I do it anyway.
Well... my camera work while I was drawing this pic was less than remarkable... I didn't notice that the digital camera's resolution had been set way, waaaaay low when I started taking pictures. Gah, so much for that idea (I had been too lazy to scan after each and every step). Oh, well. Maybe I could try to make the pictures clearer someday. For now, I hope everyone could still see what I was doing, at least.
For a nice "how to" on the more common "chibification" process, try this: [link ]
You can also look into this if you're curious on how I draw with guidelines.
(Edit) Since a lot of people were asking, I used the following pencils for this drawing:
- A Staedtler karat aquarell colored pencil for the blue lines.
- A sharpened Staedtler HB pencil for the black lines.
But really, any light blue colored pencil, or typical lead pencil, will probably do.

Not really, chibi's just have different proportions. Chibi isn't a style, its japanese for small or cute. Which i think this drawing is cute, making it chibi

Seriously though. They're just your typical Staedtler HB pencils.

I had used a sharpened Staedler HB pencil. It's fairly common, and could easily be found in major school supplies stores where I live.

By the way. Could you tell me what kind of pens you use when inking? I don't really understand that. Can you use regular pens? Or...is it a specific type of pen? I feel stupid for asking this. lol

You know, I think this tutorial is so much easier to understand than the link you've posted... That's what I really think. When I started following this tutorial, I actually drew a cuter version of a chibi Gilgamesh (for a friend: Hanakuro)!!!
So no offense, this is a complement anyway: This tutorial is easier to follow than the link you posted!!!

Wow.
It's great. ^^
But, I do not live in the USA, or UK. Can I still get an Staedtler HB pencil and the blue one?
I hope so.
Thanks, btw.

I don't live in either places either. I got my pencil from a bookstore. Unfortunately, they're not selling them in singles anymore (I have to buy an entire box just to get the color that I want...), so even I am having problems in terms of supply.

As I've mentioned, this is my own "chibi-style", as others would call it, as I myself believe that they looked more like I've drawn them as kids. I showed how I draw that way because I had been asked to. This wasn't really supposed to be a tutorial (though it kind of ended up like one), but if it does help some people draw, then it's a very good bonus.
If you would also please look at the author's notes section, I had provided a link leading to a more common "chibification" process.
To each his own, hon. To be honest, I can actually draw the chibi which you describe. I'm just more known for this particular kind of style, as a lot of my drawings (if not the majority of my gallery) are made this way.
