Headcanon time: Chara has no issue with insects and arachnids. I know it's a semi-popular fan theory to have Chara afraid of Spiders. But that theory stems from propaganda spread from Mettaton to get Muffet to attack Frisk. And, While Toriel does make Butterscotch Cinnamon Pie for you in game, she also makes Snail Pie regularly, and I can picture Chara wanting to part take in that. A sorta mix of Beggars can't be Choosers, being Grateful to the ones that have shown you Love, and wanting to Fit In with the rest of the Dreemurrs.

Frisk, on the other hand, isn't afraid of bugs or anything. But the notion of wanting to eat them is something they'd rather not think about.
