Description
Concept sketchs for the VESPER class hunter killersmall vessel with heavy forward firing railguns, for smashing through blockades and larger capital ship formations
equally suited to hit and run attacks on enemy shipping, hunting in packs like u-boats of the past
these are small ships, and often operate from a larger mother ship with docking ports for re fueling and re arming

Oh, okay. i was referring to the one with the detonator fuses for the shells, or does both have it?

i think only the newer one does, because the old show used lasers instead
but its hard for me to say as i don't know the old one well, the knew one i know quite well, and i must say its possibly the most realistic and accurate show as far as sci fi ships go, the ships have a realativly realistic f
FTL drive , ( wormhole drive so it doesn't actually go FTL but its easier to say that) and they have to navigate and have a limitation on distance per jump ( unlike many other sci fis which seem to ignore navigation issues)
it also has much more realistic dogfights, the fighters move like spaceships , instead of like aeroplanes
also the ships conserve momentum ( startrek had an aweful habit of making the ships stop when power went out, which is wrong as the ship already had a forward momentum , for all of treks funny science, somebody seems to have forgotten newtons laws )

LOL, yea. an object in motion tends to stay in motion unless external forces act on it.

indeed, but i guess that didn't look right
at the end of the day it comes down to what looks good on the screen often, same reason why theres sound in space in most sci fis, or it would be boring, but i like it when they have silence , makes it kind of sad and the contast between hectic battle and peaceful silience is kind of beautiful in a way

That's true. the lack of sound in space is one you don't see much in Sci-fi, the rule of cool demands that combat in space make all sorts of nice little noises, including explosions

indeed, i did like the moment in the new star trek movie where the corridor decompresses and it all goes silent
the thing i like most is when its silent, but you hear the sound inside the ship, like when the ship is hit by something and you hear the impact inside

Yep. inside the ship is air to move and vibrate, meaning the possibility of sound.

of course i do think they often hype up the ammount of movement, back during trek and other shows, they had everyone on the bridge fall about, i doubt there would be so much movement but it was the only way to show it, i prefer the way battlestar galactica has them move,
plus the CIC in Galactica is a better , more realistic layout than the bridge of startrek, which for some unexplained reason is on the roof where it can be easily shot at, unlike the CIC onboard galactica which is deep inside the ship

The CIC within a warship is always buried deep within the bowels of the ship for combat command while the bridge sits exposed so the crew stationed there can navigate. Star Trek first came out before the civilian population could readily find that out

indeed, but the function of a bridge in star trek makes no sense being on the top to me, considoring the veiw screen is NOT a window, its a view SCREEN, by that logic, it might as well be at the front, on on the bottom
though i did like the battle bridge on the galaxy, which was essentially a CIC when the sections are docked

That's true. Star Trek doesn't make a lot of sense in hindsight. They are getting better about it though

indeed, take for example the way the ships move, as they used to move on wire guided rails , the movement is just wrong in space, this unrealistic movement then carried on into tv , but the rebooted movies have gotten much better

Sweet, makes it more realistic in action

indeed , i also felt that the weapons are better shown, for example , the Nerrada's torpedoes, resemble a guided missile , with a clearly defined warhead, instead of a glowing orb like they used to have, and the energy weapons are mounted in more realistic turret brackets

You should download one of the free 3D modelling programs (like Google SketchUp) and make 3D versions of these very cool ships of yours.

might be worth a try, but i've never had too much luck with sketch up, might be worth browing some tutorials
though i have some experiemce with CAD software so it shouldn't be too difficult

These are cool! :3 I love the detail put in them, and the labels.
This is why people become engineers; to build -these- things.

well i am training to be an engineer some day, i only hope this kind of tech will become commercially viable

Mechanical engineering in general, but i'm leaning towards nautical stuff, hull design etc

xD I'm working to be a mech. engineer too. Hope you like math! e__e That's all I've been doing for the past 5 months solid.
