Description
I am learning Blender, and figure I'd chronicle what I learn in a way that hopefully helps out people who are wishing to learn Blender as well. Your mileage may vary.Any feedback is appreciated.

Downloading for future reference. If I can remember, I'll let you know how it turns out. So far this looks stunning!

For some reason when i render, it looks nothing like this. And i mean absolutely nothing. Here is what i keep getting even though i followed your directions exactly.

Hmm. Can you sent me the .blend file so I can take a look at it?

A couple of things:
- First, the backdrop you are using is too small. You'll need to scale the planes so that they are larger. You can scale them by pressing on the cube in the properties window and scaling the x and y size, or you can select the object, press "s," and then drag your mouse until it is large enough.
- Second, in your materials, you need to make sure "receive transparent" is enabled under shadows for all surface (non-volume) materials, and that all objects in the scene have materials on them (the back wall doesn't appear to have one).
[link] is what I arrive at after I apply the noted changes above. I might also have increased the emit setting of the glow to 1 in that render.
As for the camera, as long as you can move around the screen, you can make your current view of the screen become the camera view by pressing "control+alt+0" or going to "view -> align view -> align active camera to view." Doing this allows you to focus in more on the object itself.
does this help?

Oh my gosh! This helps a lot actually because i was trying to find a way to align with the camera and just pressing 0 never worked, but the ctrl-alt-0 does. Now I've got this down I'm gonna try your other tutorials and then see if I can make some simple objects. Once again thank you!
