i love it! Is this the regular APO version or some crazy plug-in version?

All of my fractals these days use native transformations and no 3D settings. The exception to this is Chaotica's Gaussian variation (which is an absolutely *killer* blur, but there are good Apo blurs as well, like Sineblur). The rendering is purely done in Chaotica.

Warframe should hire you to make their loading screen backgrounds and such. Like, this looks like a gorgeous interpretation of space, in a so very epic way.

If they'd pay me to do that, I'd probably jump on the opportunity to do so! It's been a while since I played that game, but I actually was debating trying it out again since it's been over half a year since I've last done anything...

I would be thrilled to see my stuff in a museum
It's been too crazy these days; work's been eating away a bit more than I'd like it to, but that's another story entirely XD

Yeah there's good and bad to the game, I don't like how it's based on microtransactions and such. But that was not really what I ment to bring as a topic : what I like about their game is it's aesthetic, and when I saw 'Phantom Guardian', my mind saw a potential connexion between their aesthetic and something you could create to go with it. I'm not deleting this thread from my messages as I plan to perhaps ask them about it, if you don't want to approach them yourself.

The microtransaction thing is annoying, but it's far from the worst payment option I've seen for games before. At least all the content is available for all players (last I played, at least), even if you have to wait a long time for it to build...
I personally don't think that it'd be appropriate for me to randomly send art samples to someone asking if they want to use it, especially if I'd want fair compensation for its use. I don't know if anything would come from it anyway, nor how responsive the dev staff is to issues like this. If you want to suggest that they should look at it, then you're welcome to do so!

It's far from the worst, but it still got me off the game lol. I don't wanna grind the same levels for weeks so I can get other bits of content :/.
Lol, it'd be the kind of silly things I'd do myself, but sure I understand. I'll try to remember to send 'em something about it, see if they reply.

Well consider I've played some games that have absolutely obnoxious grinding for far too long, there's probably a good deal many games that I would likely find enjoyable to play XD

Haha. Well I'm spoiled by games like DotA 2 which I'm in the negative for, cost-wise (it costed me about -5$? I sold items from the game, never bought anything ...).

Whatever interpretation you have of it is perfectly valid. I personally saw a head myself, so if you see eyes and a nose, then your interpretation and mine aren't super far apart!

An awesome name for an awesome fractal. Magnificent work! The blacks and greys, balanced by the bright yellow light, adds an incredible feel of the "darkness and light" theme.

I have to say this is probably the most badass pic I have EVER seen on Da!
This reminds me of the ocean, the stars, and a black hole all wrapped up in a little ribbon. Also I love how the white light contrasts the darkness of the wave. I love it!!
Keep up the great work! I look forward to more epicness!

Hah, that's quite something to here, as there's a lot of badass stuff on DA I enjoy making artwork -- it's stress relief and relaxation for me, and I try to do it when I can. I can't promise more epicness, but I do hope to make more epic things XD
There definitely is a strong water/tide/ocean feel to this, and I absolutely love strong and energetic motion in artwork, and try to incorporate it into things that I make. I'm glad you like how it turned out ^_^

I've been using Apo and mandlebrot 3d for a while. Still super new with them...but I think its about time I buy Chaotica... Thanks for bringing this program to my attention. The work you create with it is beyond amazing, and I've been following you for a short while now. Thankful I found you!
And really happy to see its on sale!! I think this will flow perfectly into my process...

Chaotica is probably a larger part of my creative process than Apophysis is at the moment. I probably spend 35-45% of the time working on the basic structure and applying a gradient in Apo, and the remaining time in Chaotica messing with details, refining structures, messing with the gradient spread, and various other things. There are some quirks that make working with it a pain at times, but they can be averted. The rendering time is amazingly fast -- albeit I have a monster cpu, but it hands down offers higher quality, more intuitive imaging settings, and faster rendering times than Apophysis does. If you have any questions, or there is anything I can to to help, I'll gladly try to offer what assistance I can.
I did notice that some of the works in your gallery use both fractals and drawing. That's something I really would love to be able to do myself at some point in time!
Thanks for the comment, and have a good evening

Thank you very much for your insightful response! You've actually answered a bunch of my concerns! I will be picking up Chaotica right now! I actually make youtube videos these days, and I've been doing animation. I would love to start my videos with a fractal animation, finish it with what I'm going to use to paint, then start paint/animate/continue, haha. My process is a little...overwhelming at times. I have too many ideas. But yes. Thank you again! I really want to take this to the next level, because fractals are such a huge passion! I mean.... I mostly look at natural fractals. Digital fractals are still quite new to me, so using this software is still very complex. I'm a much better painter.
And likewise. If you need any help/tips or advice, feel free to ask me as well!
Take care!

I've not tried using Youtube before, though I have considered using it as a way to show timelapses for my own process of creating fractal art. Generally that'd require me doing a lot of recording, as sometimes it takes ... days ... before something I'm working on clicks and does interesting things, while other times I can come up with many interesting concepts to pursue in the scope of a few hours. My own process of making fractals is incredibly chaotic
What is your youtube channel, by the way, I probably will take a look at it tomorrow, but for now I'm probably going to get off and sleep or something like that XD
Programs themselves don't necessarily make you a good artist -- although bad programs can limit your ability to do things in the first place. As long as you keep your mind open and keep experimenting with stuff, then you've got all the skills you need to move forward. Of course, a few people you can talk to about things always helps!
As for painting, I wouldn't even know where to begin asking, apart from "how2do all the things?!?!" Emphasis included because there's a lot I want to do, but know I can't do them all at once. Ideally I'd love to be able to draw creatures and characters at some point in time, but that's about all I can say...

Sorry, missed this message~
I saw you talking about your fractal timelapses. That would be quite interesting to watch! And I know that process quite well in the realm of painting. Sometimes I just get sucked right in!
I do understand that programs wont make you better, haha. I work with many and push them to do as much as I can. And do things that that tool does well. But I don't really consider myself an artist so much anymore. I'm more a creator/explorer. And art is my tool to tell those stories, or show those emotions and moods. When it comes to fractals, I'm relying solely on happy accidents, really. Although I sometimes have a general idea of what I want, then I keep doing random things until I find it. No technical mastery of any sort, haha.
There are a ton of tutorials. I'm friends with Sycra and he makes lots of drawing and painting tutorials on YouTube. Along with a bunch of other people. I mean, I think drawing from life and copying are great ways to start though. Then get used to inspiration gathering. Most things are just combinations of real things, mixed together to make something that doesn't exist. So a creature may be a lion and a rhino mixed with random features from both places around the body. Using gils from a fish and scales from a certain lizard to really sell it. Things like that. Of course I could go into greater detail or more specific detail if you want me to
And as for my YouTube channel. Its: youtube.com/SeageSpeaks

I'm entirely there with you -- I enjoy creating and exploring worlds for my mind to reside in, and part of creating and exploring worlds involves manipulating the fractals to find a world that you find pleasing. With fractals, there's a bit involved with understanding how individual transforms work versus what kind of shapes do you want to see, and figuring a few basic combinations that work together. I really think my own ability to make stuff isn't much more than a few simple things that I just do a ton of XD
My own knowledge is from years worth of empirical trial and error, and thus what I make is a combination of crazy shapes that I have stumbled upon accidentally and have refined over time, or just tons of pure, raw experimentation to finding something interesting and trying to repeat it in some form. You will find things that surprise you every so often -- and that's part of the process. It's a matter of taking what you've found and then continuously refining what you have and spicing the whole thing up when things seem to be slowing down too much, at least in my opinion.
My issue with making videos is that I feel that I would probably ramble about useless stuff too much and need to figure out some basic video composition software that works. I probably need to try out WMM again just for lulz, because I don't really feel like paying a ton of money for software that I'll use relatively infrequently. But yeah, if soundless timelapses at really fast forward speeds work, then I probably would be able to get something working soon.
Also /ninja subscribed, not on my 'official' account though I do like the humor you inject into your videos!
