Description
Hur hur, it's been a little while since I've done any animation. I am ashamed. ._. So, this was supposed to be a revamp of a quick dog run that I'd animated for Portfolio class, but I wound up totally changing the run to something sillier, playful, and not exactly canine. The run's on a loop, and it loops about four times within the 10 seconds. At some point, I plan on adding to this animation, and make him change pace, or jump, or something to break the loop.
So yeah, maybe I'll use this submission as a chance to try out that new Critique feature dA's got put up. :3 Been a while since I've had some serious anim critique, anyway.
Animated completely in Adobe Flash.

Your sense of movement is amazing 0_0
Have you considered making a movement tutorial? With squeeze and stretch and so on? I would love you forever!

Hm, no, I've never considered that. I think it'd take a whole book, like a whole book on animation to get to a walk/run cycle. D:

I don't really have critique. But I would like to say that I WISH I COULD MAKE ANIMATIONS!!!! >_<;;;;;;
Anyway, neato, though I don't quite know what the creature is. xD

Thanks muchly! If you only need an animation program, I recommend Pencil. It's a free and rather decent program for traditional animation techniques. :3

I'll look into that! My sister has figured out how to make moving avvies for DA. xP They're entertaining! A moving sun, a raining cloud. xD Make me laugh!

Ah. No matter how I do my animations(do them with Artoonix 1.6), they always end up choppy.

Are they at 24 frames per second?

doomgrip776 In reply to ChaosKomori [2009-04-19 16:59:20 +0000 UTC]
Some 100 ms, 50, 62, 150, 1s, 200ms, etc.

ChaosKomori In reply to doomgrip776 [2009-04-19 17:45:52 +0000 UTC]
Well, then that's why it's choppy. :3 Ideally, you should use the same timing for all of the frames, and then your drawings to make things go slower or faster.

Wait, I don't think you understand. In each animation, the first few frames may have 50 ms, and then a frame has 100 ms, then 50 again, and 250 to slow things down. Artoonix is different than Flash.

ChaosKomori In reply to doomgrip776 [2009-04-28 08:35:55 +0000 UTC]
Right, I understand. You can change the timing for each frame. But for a smooth animation, all frames should have the exact SAME timing. If you want an action to go slower, then use more drawings for that action.

this looks nice. his run seems a little slow and it could def use some in betweens. the actual motion itself looks really good though. and the critter is very cute.

Yeah, I think the deviantART playback is dropping some frames, because it's all on 2s at 24 fps. :< It looks a little different in .mov format than it seems to here.

yeah it looks more like 3s or 4s on DA, so it's probably all good

NICE flowing motion overall. I would like to see a bit more solidity to the back of the skull and the back if the jaw. They seem to be jumping around relative to the eyes/face.

i was thinking...it has its good points. but maybe extend the leg in front thats closest to us a little farther forward before it hits the ground.

also, when a dog runs its sort of like when a person runs. their chest does turn towards us, even in profile. only slightly, so it is seen, but not exaggerated.
i watched my dog run...alot.

Dude that's freakin' adorable; It's like a dauchshound or however you spell it. Or like a martin. Or something. You should turn it into a Lutari or some Neopet to show them XD just for the heck of it; and so you can throw it in their gallery or something. Super cuute! I like that he closes his eyes in that one frame

ChaosKomori In reply to ThirdPotato [2009-04-02 20:13:32 +0000 UTC]
Lol, I thought about making it a Neopet, but there's not really a place to submit animation like this anyway. Neovision is more story-based.
