Description

I added some new info to the About page of my comic.  These are the vampire rules as they exist in Vampire Bites.  After all, there's no One Right Way for vampires.

The average person doesn't realize that vampires exist.  Sure, they're on TV and movies, and some goth kids like to claim they're vampires, but they're basically a myth.  The only ones who know the truth are the vampires themselves, and the hunters.  Usually, if you're not Rantz, vampires keep their identities to themselves.

Origins: How a vampire is created has yet to be revealed, but simply draining the blood of a victim is insufficient.

Abilities:  Vampiric abilities manifest themselves over time and with training.  Some vampires have a knack for learning them, or have natural talent without training.  The abilities demonstrated in Vampire Bites thus far:
-Entrancement: The power to hypnotise mortals into obedience
-Shape shifting: The power to take the form of different animals.

Weaknesses:  Everyone has a weakness.  In Vampire Bites, sunlight doesn't automatically turn a vampire into dust and ash, but it does hamper them significantly.  In addition, contact with silver in any form will burn at the touch, and wounds inflicted with silver weapons do not heal rapidly.

What kills vampires has yet to be revealed.

Recently, Arak's discovered a strange stone seal that inflicts damage on contact.

Society: Vampires are mostly individual creatures, but when a vampire creates a fledgling, they usually take on the task of training them.  Adopting "orphaned" young vampires is usually unheard of.

There is also a group known as The Endless.  They appear to have some sort of organization, and set out tasks for its members.  They remain shrouded in mystery.

Question! What are the chances of an orphaned vampire surviving on its own? Also, I'm aware of the term "bitling" being used in your series, but are there any other titles or terms regarding a vampire's age/rank/prowess/etc? And if so, what are they?

Do we know if they are allergic to garlic or not in the end ? Chloe wouldn't eat that cafeteria spaghetti when they asked this question (though who could blame her, really ?)

I really love your take on vampires, it doesn't turn them into absolute monsters that burn in sunlight and sleep all day yet it also doesn't make them too weak for them to be above humans and they still possess the "typical" vampire traits. Overall I love this serie, its art style and can't wait to learn more about it !

Thanks, I'm glad you like it!

The garlic thing is still unresolved, because school cafeteria food is gross.

Do vampires stop aging when they're turned?

Much to Rantz dismay, once he finds out (because the clubs will never accept his fake (or even real) ID)

Since Twilight invented its own rules for vampires, I guess you have to make yours clear!

Pshaw, Twilight's not the only ones who pick and choose and make up different vampire rules.  Anne Rice's vampires can't turn into bats or wolves.  True Blood's vampires have hallucinogenic blood.  Lost Boys' vampires sleep upside down from the ceiling.  Dracula in the original novel preferred night, but could totally walk about in the daytime.

Vampires are always different in little and big ways, and not just the ones that sparkle in sunshine.

There is no specific rule! As a kid I found the contradictory portrayals of certain types of monsters to be confusing.
