On board the Argentum as it sail through the starry abyss, the old guardian Quinlin Ray trains his new apprentice Zoey Hope in combat. With a quick moment of his spear weapon Quin swipes Zoey's feet, knocking her onto the ground for the dozenth time.

"You still have trouble dealing with those low blows." The master tease his apprentice. "Keep your eyes on your opponent's movement, not just the weapon but the whole body as well. Every warrior gives off a sign of what kind of attack they will use, you just need to spot it quickly. If you don't learn this how else are you suppose to defeat the dark master?"

"Simple, I won't." Zoey complains as she gets up into a sitting position. "I'm getting beat by a man over a thousands years old who needs a stick to walk, what chance do I have against someone like Vile if I can't beat you?"

"It's one thing to be beaten but giving up before the fight even begun. Just what kind of guardian are you?" He lectured the teenage girl as his weapon disappear in a flash of light.

"I'm not giving up master! I just....I just not experienced as you." Zoey pulls her hair and lies down on the wooden floor in frustration and defeat. "I don't have enough skills or the knowledge to fight as well as you." Her eyes widen on an idea and quickly sits back. "Hay you fought Vile a lot of times, right? Then you know his fighting style? So how does he fight?"

The old guardian was surprise about the unexpected question. Zoey encountered Vile the Dark Master before but never really engaged him in a fight so far. His knowledge of the villain could be useful for the young girl the next time they met. Placing his hands in his robe as he thinks how to explain Vile's fighting style. "Vile is... well...he's a powerful Darkness that likes to engage in close combat most of the time. He can also attack from a far with those energy attacks."

As Zoey listens to the tale Quinlin starts to remembers the bad and painful memories of war, the bloodshed Vile caused to his friends... to his family.

You need to retreat. A Guardian Master told a teenage Quinlin.

No I can still help. Young Quin argues back. Suddenly a large energy sphere lands between the two and explodes, sending Quinlin flying backwards. There were small scratches on his body but he was aright, standing back up on his feet with his spear in hand. Looking back he sees the older Guardian dead on the ground and the one responsible for the attack looking over the corpse before facing him... The Dark Master Vile.

I'm disappointed this one didn't put up a good fight, hopefully you can do better Quinine boy. Vile said before flying toward Quinlin. Quin blocks in time but can't counter as Vile continuously slashes at the his rival with his clawed gauntlets, emitting dark energy with each attack. Quin struggled to hold off the attacks as his strength diminish with each blow. Looking at the dark entity Quinlin Ray sees Vile's devilish smile grow wider, a mad smile.

"Master Ray, are you alright?" Zoey asks her master as his body shakes. Regaining his train of thought Quinlin returns to the present and removes all traces of fear.

"I'm alright, just got lost in the past for a moment." He smiles to reassure her. "Why don't you go ask Donald about our next destination?"

She wasn't buying the 'I'm fine' statement but obeys and heads toward the wheel. When she was gone the old master's smiles fades away, looking off the port side at the stars. During that fight from so long ago he remembers Vile's red eyes and sinister smile, his body shivers from fright. He was feeling afraid but not from the memory but for what the future will hold. He was afraid of Vile taking his apprentice's life, just as he took the lives of his friends so long ago. Fear is like history, it repeats itself.
