Seriously. Why does the God-Almightly Doomsday Device in science-fiction have to be the wackiest thing ever? In case you don't know what the image is of, it's the Psychic Dominator from Yuri's Revenge.Related content

Because Yuri deems it so... Because he is wacky himself... Seriously what are going to do once you control the world with your will?
Make them all dance to the Thriller?
... Nevermind that...

All that`s missing is the alien invasion like from War of the Worlds. Yuri would probably still rape them, but hell that would be interesting.

Heh, if CnC and Red Alert combine (like they were suppose to) then that could happen.

Eh, too much time-travel crap was going on in the Red Alert series for it to make sense anymore, thanks to EA Games. At least the Tiberium series remains uncorrupted by that malignant forces of the time machine, which is also another doomsday device on its own right.
Well, Westwood did admit to messing up the linkage between the Red Alert series and the Tiberium Series before they were bought ut by EA. Really, the question would be how old would Kane be by the time the first CnC game took place. He'd have to be in his 70's or 80's at least by then.
That, and the fact that Russia was part of the eight nations that contributed to the creation of GDI, set both universes apart for sure.

That is true... but it is rumored that Kane is even older than that... but I do not know, I love both series for the fact that Red Alert is like Sci-Fi awesome and is based on Time, whereas Tiberium is based on a apocalyptic struggle between something that can rather help us or kill us. Nevertheless, I support both universes as their separates anyways... never knew that Westwood admit of messing up, but I hardly do research.
Ah well, as the rule of all CnC Universe sequels, it is always the good guys that always prevails.

In the end, EA Games did more screw-ups than did Westwood on the series - They're not very original when it comes to game design and plot (Look at CnC Generals for example. It's almost a run-off of the FPS Battlefield 2 - produced by the same people).

Yes, EA did screwed up royally, but it is not that bad as people make it out to be.
And besides, it is hard to be original these days, as many Ideas come from past civilizations and minds that are all ready depleted out of originality. So even though they are not original, they do try to at least try... though its horrible at best.

No, I literally meant that CnC Generals is pretty much the tricked-out RTS version of Battlefield 2. There is no way that anyone can miss that (Americans, Chinese and Middle-Eastern groups - the same three factions in both games). At least Dice is taking things into their own hands - Westwood is pretty much RIP right now.

it's good topic for interesting sci-fi indeed.
But most sci-fi storys I readed are more different and innovational

Likewise. I just couldn't help but think of other said devices that appear in many sci-fi related games and movies (The Death Star and the Shadow Mass Reactor from Star Wars, the Talisman of Vaul from Warhammer 40,000, Blacksun from Supreme Commander, and so on). Mind you though, I prefer quite a bit of conflict in the stories I read, so it's a natural given for me.

Great movie! I was actually expecting someone to bring that up!
It's so true though. A doomsday device is a scare tactic that hopefully works without having to be used. But tell that to Yuri when he enslaves the minds of the entire planet with this particular one.

Well the nuke isn't a doomsday device. Everything else seems to be for some reason - Austin Powers really does make a joke of all of these issues.

When I was working on this, all I could think of was what Lopez from RvB said at the end of one episode:
[English translation]"Why do we have a million doomsday devices and no answering machine?"
