Description
Decided to finish up the Cardinal Layer Paint because this was inspired by the Cardinal fledglings we saw of them learning how to fly in our backyard last week. There were about 7 of them, as the parents kept pushing them off of fence posts. The mocking birds and yellow wrens decided it was there turn and started to do the same. They must have done a good job teaching them because we see the cardinal fledglings now and they are pretty good flyers now. ^^ They pretty much keep to our backyard and our side neighbors ( they have all the feeders out )Decided to go with a winter theme background with this because of color composition... and to make it stand out from the other green backgrounds I have going in the Layer Paint Bird series. Next one on my list is a Blue Jay, the big bullies in our backyard.

I like his lively eyes! His beak looks a little off, as though it is bent slightly towards the viewer rather than following the line of the rest of the face. This and the other two bird paintings you have shone in the artist's comments have such warmth in them; they evoke the feeling of a happy summer day.

Oeeeeh... Like like! You draw birds like an expert dear! Certainly like the blue that you used for shading in there. Your art looks a little fantasy but realism also. The colours gives the impression like its some kind of Magical fantasy bird, its hard to explain but the colouring definately adds so much story and style to it. You should not draw so many good birds, as i keep saying its your best artwork yet so far . Haha seriously every bird you draw is your new best bird you drawn up to date !

daw thank you Leia! yeah I tried to stay far away from actual black as I could. only used it very lightly at the end to help with contrast. I have a few more birds planned, next is a blue jay. Building up a few pieces for a show next year. I'm starting to really get comfortable with layer paint too. I'm really liking the brush strokes with it!

I'm so jealous of the birds in your backyard We have a lot of wild birds in our backyards due to the fact that we have many birds of our own and averies with seed everywhere for them to steal, but they're only spoggies (the Australian sparrow), pigeons and crows >.< We've had a kookaburra once or twice but I'm not sure where he came from as their not native to my hometown
The colours in this are gorgeous, really beautiful composition

Sadly that's the only one I've seen, he must've escaped from the wildlife park, or someone else's yard A lot of Australian birds do have very beautiful sounds. I love hearing Magpie's singing, luckily they're always around. I found a youtube clip of one singing actually [link] Then again I remember staying in the city once and at 5 o'clock on the dot this horrible noise started outside the hotel, right near our window. My mum was up and I remember wandering out of the bedroom and into the kitchen area and asking her if a dog was hurt somewhere outside only for her to tell me it was a bird. Can't for the life of me remember what kind though...
