Description
I about dropped my jaw to the floor when I first saw one of these guys. At first I thought it was a blue jay fledgling. But then 3 more showed up on our fence I and I got out my little bird book to take a look at it. Sure enough it was 3 Tufted Titmouse's prancing about our yard. This bird was the inspiration to start painting my back yard bird series. Made me realize that there were more then just cardinals and blue jays flying about. I haven't seen many of them since that day. Maybe one or 2. I need to put our feeders back out to see if we can attract them again.
Anywho I'm getting close to wrapping us the backyard bird series! ^^

I really really like this (and others in your series--that cedar waxwing looks gorgeous!). You have a command of color that really draws me in, and good attention to detail. It looks like you have a good balance between defining large, important feathers and suggesting the smaller body feathers, and you do a good job of separating the bird from the background. Great work!

What a cute birdie! Love this series Charfade, just what exactly are you putting in those feeders? I'll need to get me some to attract some cuties come Spring. No bird dare sing outside my window these days - 40 C tomorrow! Thanks for the nice warmth of these little critters

Daw thanks! We get a Cardinal and Songbird Seed mixture . I know it has a lot of sunflower seeds that the squirrels go nuts for. Some other stuff in it is White Millet, Cracked Corn, Safflower, Nyjer, peanuts, and Thistle Seed. Its a pretty basic mixture.
And ya know, I at least remember Cardinals show up in Minnesota on really cold days when we put seed out. Thought the Raccoon's eventually found it... I guess with nothing else to eat they were pretty desperate.
Gee now I want to go to the store and get more bird seed today
