That's a very loaded question 
Personally I work full time in a concept art studio and do freelance work on the side. So, I get by, but there really isn't a yes or no answer. It depends very much on your work / skill , experience, exposure & contacts etc. Some artists are perfectly fine and some artists struggle.

Lovely sketches! The hair and eyes of the girl in the middle complement each other very nicely, making her the center of attention among the other two beautiful ladies. It's a great way of indicating that she's the protagonist. I wonder if she actually is. Nice signature, by the way.
