Second in the series.This series of photographs was shot during a outdoor festival near my town.
The dancers in this series reflect my belief that belly dancers should have bellies.
This is not intended be a slam against thinner belly dancers. If you like them that's great. I just prefer the plus variety.

She's beautiful. You can really see the energy in her movements and how much she enjoys her dancing (even without seeing her face). I have many friends who belly dance, and to be honest, none of them look like the so-called stereotype. That doesn't stop them from dancing or stop people from enjoying the pure beauty of their performance.

i think people who loves belly dancers are people with open mind, because they recognise true beauty and charm, when blind people just say "huh, that's nasty,or its disgusting" shame on them, because they don't know where the true beauty is. i think the true beauty of a woman is in her natural form, with some belly, or not. the most important is that she can love and accept herself.
maybe that's why belly dancers are dancing so well : they know that they are beautifull, and they don't need to try to feel more skinner.

What I love most about this series and women like this is that you can see them loving themselves here in this beautiful dance. They are open to the world in a way most women (who don't look like Paris Hilton or Barbie) never allow themselves to be simply by wearing the costumes they wear. To then stand up in front of an audience and proclaim their own beauty through a dance... wow.

Thank you so much for your very kind words. The wonderful thing is that this lady is married and her husband always or most of the time goes with her and you should see him smile as she performs. Yes she is brave. I saw this lady walking through the streets at this festival after she performed her dances and was still wearing her costume. She drew many looks for the people she passed and I overheard many comments about how brave she was and how admired she seemed to be.

Oh thanks so much. I would love to photograph her again. She usualy perorms at a local art festival here in town. Her troupe was rained out this year so I have to wait another whole year. 👍: 0 ⏩: 0
