Description
2nd part of a commission forHeres the link to the original drawing of this character.

It's been so long since I visited this piece. Coming back to it was kinda weird, in a good way. A fresh pair of eyes and a better understanding helped me move through this without too many hiccups. I'm still learning how to focus my compositions and balance the piece as a whole.
After speaking with Keron Grant at the Heroes con, I discovered he works on the entire piece as a whole, and thats how he acheives those wonderous paintings of his. I'm tryin to follow suit.

That's brilliant, it's so rich and moody.

Love the gold-colouring of it, together with the red it makes the picture very warm and welcoming, if you will. The blue eyes, gem and flowers also gives it an interesting detail-contrast. The texture in the background succeed in giving it a very cool painting likeness, which really add up to the whole composition.
I think the picture is marvellous, if anything it would be that I think you forgot to put a strap on his sandal.

i think this is crazy, love how it turned out, the composition does make your eye bounce around a lot, but I think thats what helps give this subtle situation some energy.....

the crits i get on that very issue is just what you said.... a lot of thumbnails and a lot of prep work will make that time go quicker and then it'll make your work more together.

Really like the canvas texture on this...as well as how the picture brightens toward the center, really draws attention to the weapon. Nice job bringing that bright read throughout the piece with the falling leaves/blossoms.
