Description I've always been a big fan of the wolverine character (bonus for being canadian) and never found Cyclops especially interesting... But in my mind, if these two were to duke it out- wolverine would be a smoldering skeleton in 5sec flat. I mean, the guy just has to LOOK at him. kaboom. over-town.

thats just me.

When I see a scene like this or whenever someone talks about Cyclops's power, I think about a scene in an "Extraordinary X-men" comic I read a few years back.Β  Scott and Logan were fighting someone and they were getting overwhelmed and Scott was getting angry so he told Logan to hit the ground, then he took off his visor. The next scene was all white with red edges around the frame. The scene after that was just straight decimation, nothing was left standing. Logan even said every once in awhile Scott reminds him why its HE who runs the X-men.Β

Actually, nothing would smolder. Cyclops's beams are 100% Kinetic, my friend, Kind of like getting punched really hard. There is no heat in the beam whatsoever, But let's not discredit the fantastic art though, seriously. Incredible! I love the very stark contrast between the black and white with the vibrant reds accent the piece, LOVE the way that you depicted Cyclops. the whole thing as whole has this kind of Bushido feel to it, minus the bamboo thicket of course haha. You have tremendous talent.

That really depends on continuity...but you are correct the prime timeline uses that.

That's actually interesting, in one story arc where Xavier was killed the world went to hell with Apocalypse having taken over sooner then expected since the timeline was altered. In that story Cyclops, and Wolverine had fought each other. Cyclops lost an eye, wolverine lost a hand.Β  So I guess it stands to reason Cyclops 'could' kill wolverine, despite healing factor. Β

Eighter16rus In reply to BarryWoods [2015-03-08 11:55:41 +0000 UTC]

There was a series "Ultimate Wolverine vs Hulk" where? at the very beginning, Hulk ripped Wolverine in a half & threw out his legs far away. And, while Logan scrambled through the mountains to his leg, he tells the story of their conflict. Eventually he found his bottom half and regenerated. So that, killing Wolverine is a work more harder than to pull his bodyparts off.

That's funny because there was an universe where Wolverine was destroyed by some robot's laser beam, leaving him as nothing but a skeleton.
There also is a universe where Cyclops blows off Logan's hand.

in the newest Wolverine movie, it showed him surviving, being directly near the atomic bomb, and he was pretty badly burnt to a crisp.

1) If he was hit directly he'd be dead.
2) Was referring to the comics. They are clearly in their comic book designs.
3) Cyclops without holding back can destroy everything in his peripheral vision. Wolverine can't dodge that.
4) When taking serious damage, even when he heals, Wolverine passes out. Meaning he got beat.

All good points, all good points. I Remember that story line. Logan had a bucket from which his last left claw came out for combat. Howeve Scott did not walk out of that one with out scars of his own. The man with the biggest gun doesn't always win. This image while an awesome pice of art, takes the view that a two hundred year old hunter and killer would just stand in front of an expirience fighter an allow himself to be atomized. No thanks... It's not that easy.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

EdwardX1 In reply to Iagorincon [2015-01-05 17:44:07 +0000 UTC]

Of course not. Logan isn't as dumb as people thing. His rage tends to make him act on impulse (similar to Hulk) which makes him come off as stupid, but when he calms down, he's actually pretty smart.
However, it has been kinda hinted at that Logan is in fact on the weaker end of the X-men when it comes to combat effective-ness against long range mutants. Like mutants like Jean, Xavier, Storm, Magneto, and of course, Scott.
Jean and Xavier can easily put him to sleep. Jean could also just blow him up (and I don't like Jean all that much).
Storm... well I think he might stand a chance against but her weather powers would give him trouble.
Magneto can easily rip him apart. Anyday.
And Scott... well here's the thing. Scott DOES hold back. And so does Logan. If Logan went all out in their fight (you know the one), Scott would be dead. But if Scott went all out in the first place, Logan would still be a big pile of mess that would take weeks for him to heal from (should he even survive). In Schism, both of them (while very angry at eachother) clearly weren't gonna kill one another.
In their smaller more comical squabbles, Logan sucker punched Scott or Scott would just shoot Logan down before he could do anything. Like when Logan was yelling at Scott and told "the head boy" that he "could take whatever he's got". Scott just blasted him and then told him he's off the team. IN another instance, Scott was being a cocky douche and Logan knocked him out.Β
In a fight with both of them being in character, it could go either way.Β
In a fight where Scott isn't in the mood for any hand to hand, he would just blow Logan to smithereens.

Possibly so. But when the tiger wants beef he doesn't ring a bell an say " I'm HEEeeeeeeeerrrrrR!!! Β
I'm just saying that if Logan ever chose to kill him, Scott wouldn't even see him coming. If he went cold and elected the path of the assasin it would be over before Scott knew it was on. Β

EdwardX1 In reply to Iagorincon [2015-02-13 19:11:15 +0000 UTC]

Scott has been ambushed by many assassins so I'm sure he'd see Logan (the guy whom he knows so well) coming. On top of that, Logan has a habit of letting out a loud growl right before he pounces.

He was killed one time by Kitty Pride. She phased her hand into his skull and left it there. She lost her arm, but managed to stop Wolverine. I thought it was pretty cool and makes you think about how dangerous her phasing ability actually is. I think it was an one shot comic though. A what if maybe, not sure. It makes sense to me that he wouldn't be able to heal from that with mixed up molecules and what not. Also I don't think he would grow back if his whole skeleton was made bare in one shot. That just wouldn't make much sense.

Twatcher In reply to EdwardX1 [2014-08-15 05:11:58 +0000 UTC]

I would disagree on the skill part, but he definitely deserves much much MUCH more than he got in the movies. He was just a chump for Wolverine to toss around. I hated that in the movies.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

EdwardX1 In reply to Twatcher [2014-08-16 22:00:55 +0000 UTC]

Well the skill part is complicated.
Whenever the two are compared together, Cyclops displays a much more coordinated and well trained fighting style. Wolverine seems to just be a brute. But when apart, Wolverine's fighting skill is sooooo good. So... idk.
I'd say it's tied. I mean, Cyclops is the one who normally trains the X-men in hand-to-hand.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Twatcher In reply to EdwardX1 [2014-08-17 12:49:08 +0000 UTC]

Maybe. Wolverine can afford to be careless in planning and thinking ahead because he has has his healing, his tracking skills, his brute strength. He is just confident in these that he can kill just about anything by relying on them, but he can be subtle if he really tries to. Cyclops has to plan ahead, and ha maybe a more strategic mind. But then again if he would be alone, in an emotional situation that is not planned, I would say Wolverine would have the upper hand. If he would have the chance to plan ahead with a relatively cool mind, maybe it would be tied.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

EdwardX1 In reply to Twatcher [2014-08-18 07:25:56 +0000 UTC]

Well there's a "What if" universe where him and Wolverine get in a huge fight (and an emotional one) and he blew off Logan's hands.
Then again, there's an alternate situation where Logan wins.Β

I'd say Scot and Logan have a pretty even share of chances. On one hand, Cyclops is much more level-headed (something that is better to have in a fight) and has those super powerful eye beams that could vaporize anything within his peripheral vision.
On the other, we got Wolverine who has more experience, speed, and strength... and his healing abilities might benefit him. He also does not hold back as much as Cyclops does... well the old Cyclops. The current Cyclops is much more assertive and is willing to kill now.Β
