I've always been a big fan of the wolverine character (bonus for being canadian) and never found Cyclops especially interesting... But in my mind, if these two were to duke it out- wolverine would be a smoldering skeleton in 5sec flat. I mean, the guy just has to LOOK at him. kaboom. over-town.thats just me.

Hah, except it's nigh impossible to actually kill Wolverine. This battle would last for who knows how long and it's hard to know who would actually win.

Wolverine, super fast healing, adamantium enhanced skeleton... I think he could hold his own for a little bit at least.
If it's in the open, yea no chance. But if Wolvie's got cover, then I think it'll tip in his favor.

Personally, I'd prefer Cyclops power to Wolverine's, living as long as he has and losing so much, that and it'd be so much easier to deal with people pissing me off *glare..BOOM!*

Very nice pic. I like both of these characters and a fight between the two would be fun to see. However, I feel that Scott would be the victor if it's a straight up fight. Those eye beams of his hit VERY hard. The man can knock down buildings like nothing. Steel and brick is a lot stronger than human tissue. Guess what's holding Logans metal bones together? Soft human tissue. Ligaments to be exact. Cyclops can literally laser beam Wolverine to pieces. Healing factor can't mend what's not connected. He's also very good with his aim. If he sees it, it's getting hit. Kind of hard to miss if all you have to do to hit something is freaking LOOK AT IT. A shot to Wolvie's neck and all those vertebrae go flying in different directions as does his head. 'Nuff said.

First of all, this is amazing! I love all of your art, and this piece is no exception! That being said, I'll just nerd out for a moment and steadfastly disagree with your statement that Cyclops could kill Wolverine first of all because he regenerates far too fast to take any real damage, and second because if he can withstand a full on assault from the Phoenix, then he can take just about anything Cyclops can dish out xD

its an awesome painting, but ho boy, did you stir a hornet's nest... Cyclops could never beat up Logan... he regenerates to damn fast!.. not to mention the enhanced agility and animal senses... it would be like trying to hit a fly!

Smoldering? NERD ALERT: Actually, Cyclops has hard light optic blasts, so a punch to the face rather then a fire blast. Also Logan would never be killed by Cyclops, maybe knocked out, but that's it. However, in my opinion Phoniex could smash the crap out of both of them. NERD ALERT OVER. BTW nice picture!

There's a comic where this essentially happens, although Wolverine does manage to give about as good as he gets... I guess they build 'em tough in Canada?

LOL! I'm also partial to Wolverine over Cyke (read the new Uncanny X-men though, it's really good) but I've always had to admit Cyke could probably execute Ol' man Logan pretty quickly if he wanted to.

Cyclops fires concussive beams from his eyes, not heat rays. Wolverine can still regenerate from a skeleton (it has happened before).

I love these two together, whether they're fighting against each other, cooperating, or just plain being rivals. They help balance out a good team dynamic, though sometimes all that testosterone gets in the way.
Not a big fan of their current set-up [post-AvX 'Cyclops is the new Magneto/Wolverine is the new Xavier], and I miss their old knock-down brawls. This reminds me of how much fun they were. X3

Who is better? Wolverine or Cyclops? Answer: Wolverine. Why? Because, besides the fact of his AWESOME powers, he is the one with with numerous ongoing titles and miniseries. He is the one with 2 of his own movies. He isn't the one that is portrayed as a whiny man-child in the other X-Men films. He is the one we all would use our first wish to be like if we found a genie in a lamp.
Awesome art BTW. Maybe next do Logan getting his revenge in some way (leaving beer cans and dirty underwear in the Blackbird, leaving grafitti claw marks in Scott's room, etc.)

Cyclops' optic blast is actually concussive force, not heat, so there's very little for Wolverine to heal from, being that his bones are unbreakable. Logan's real problem would be not being able to get close, but he's also highly skilled at stealth, so given the circumstances, that's not a problem either.

Cyclops "wins" if he keeps Wolverine at a distance.
He can keep pummeling him at a distance for hours.
Logan only heals so fast. It's not instant regeneration. Eventually he would tire and pass out from the constant concussive force.
(Just because you're unbreakable, doesn't mean you're invulnerable from harm.)
And even in the earliest comics, it was shown that the optic blasts can be "tuned" to act like a laser beam.
Wolverine wins if he can get in close and fast.
If Cyclops is surprised, then the claws finish him very quickly.
As for the ultimate answer of who would beat who?
...Ask Chris Claremont Or John Byrne....they'll answer it easily.
