Description I saw this beautiful rutilated quartz at the gem and jewelry show and I had to buy it. In the picture there is a little shadowing at the top of the cabochon I didn't want to get rid of it because then the cabochon would lose it's dimension.

I also used a 6mm garnet colored corundum and sterling silver.

**This pendant along with 'Deadly Sin' [link] with both be available for sale at my online store soon

Thank you for any comments and favs I appreciate them all.

It looks like tourmelated quartz. the stone really is stunning, and you frame it so dramatically.

First of all, beautiful piece of jewelry! I love rutilated quartz and thats a fine speciment. But i have to ask. What is a Garnet Corundum? Is it some kind of store-name used when selling it in jewelry? Im asking because garnet and corundum are two very different crystallized forms of minerals.
Not trying to be a besserwisser. Just wants to know.

No need for appologies. It's me, I'm just a bit anal that way.
Spent about three years studying to become a gemmologist (Didnt pass the test though) so stuff like that sticks in my mind when i see it.

Keep up the good work

Holy crap. I wish I could do wirewrapping a fifth that good... My stuff feels shitty by comparison. I think I'll stick to the chainmaille.

Hell I wish I could do chainmaille but I don't have the patience for that so yea lol

Chainmaille is easy, -all- it requires is patience and a good eye for patterns, like knitting with metal... Wirewrapping is an art in of itself.

Picking out the right materials is half the process of making good jewelery, so it's handy that you've a good eye for stones. The cabochon is beautiful.

I'm not entirely sure of the terminology, but I like the triangular tabs you created for keeping the quartz in place on the front--it matches well with the bit up at the top, where the pendant attaches to the chain.

I like the symmetry and balance of this piece.

That is a gorgeous stone. Very nice! I think the angles of the silver wire set off the angles in the quartz beautifully.

this is gorgeous, my only worry is the angular shapes, it's fine around the stone itself, but the bits that stick out to the sides and 'curl' in a bit seem a little too harsh, like they don't quite fit in, although the combinations of materials is beautiful. ^^
