So I recently discovered the site RedBubble, a sleek-looking place that lets you design your own T-shirts, stickers, and - as of today - iPhone covers. The prices are, of course, steep, but you're paying for a service as well as a product, and so far it seems like just what I wanted.So far I've made a T-shirt with Nephrite's evil crest, a T-shirt with the sign for the Amazon Trio's bar, and a series of iPhone covers featuring the designs from PGSM's Teletia S (you know... since they're both phones and all). My favourite kind of merchandise has always been the stuff on the "subtle" end; you know, something only other fans would get, not something with just one of the character's faces stuck right on there. I plan on buying both shirts when I have enough money, but the covers were just for fun, since I don't have an iPhone and even if I did I don't think I could justify shelling out $30-ish dollars for a cover.

I love the iphone cases, but 30 dollars is just too expensive! The shirts are a bit more reasonable though, that Amazon Trio one looks really cool...

Just gotta toss this out here, paying 30 bucks for an iphone case is actually a normal price for the "nicer" ones in the store anyways.

Yeah, it seemed about par for some of the ones I was looking at, yikes...! At least shipping is surprisingly reasonable, so I guess people who were looking at ones about that much anyway wouldn't be put off.

I've always thought subtle is best! Official merch is all about printing the name and characters all over, making it appeal to kids, and if you're an adult fan, you end up looking like a weirdo or someone with no fashion sense!

Have you heard of Gelaskins though? They do custom covers for laptops and phones. Not proper covers, just stickers, but they're cool!

Same, I've never been fond of the idea of having Sailor Moon's face peering out of my chest, especially with people who have no qualms about verbally bashing you at even a hint of liking THAT STUPID JAPANESE SHIT.

People like that who think its "stupid Japanese shit" are stupid shitheads themselves. They don't know anything about it, but if they took the time to find out what its all about, they'd love it. Its not stupid, the artwork is beautiful, the story is a good fucking role model for people to follow, and the sequential nature is inspiring. I don't think there are quite as many different OC characters for any other fandom that follow the nature of that fandom quite so well. Maybe Pokemon and Digimon... dunno.
Subtle is best though, not for deterring assholes, just for general fashion sense if you don't wanna look like a kid or otaku harajuku girl.
