Is that giant "Holo-Sharcole" (whatever you'd call it) based on something from the comics? I don't read a whole lot of pre-Super Genesis Wave stories so I wouldn't know

Finally got a chance to comment on this. The fusion thankfully didn't go overboard, with just the barest touch of Nicole in that thing. I like the digital effects in the bottom of panel 2 -- it helps confirm that this is more a creation controlled by them rather than a weird mind-melding. While the "Get lost!" definitely has Shard's flair, I'm not so sure that's the sort of thing I can see Nicole saying. But then I suppose it was probably hard to come up with something that would fit them both anyway, so it was probably the best option.
I can't recall if this little life-jewel was part of the character or something original you came up with. Has a bit of Fullmetal Alchemist feel to it, though. Dare I presume she's permanently dead?
There is one minor mistake to point out, unfortunately: "apart" should be "a part".

Sadly Archie no longer hold the license to make Sonic comics anymore. That belongs to IDW and from what I heard it will be more connected to the games so it's unknown if any SATAM characers or characters exclusive to Archie comic series ill actually be allowed it but Ian Penders is in charge of the comics again so if allowed he might bring in some of his characters he made.

The story is told in parts and is not a full comic. Each page is a small time skip. So the whole battle with Phage happened "off-screen" sort to speak.

Seriously one thing I hated about the Archie comics ending is that they we'll never see Nicole paying back Phage for helping to bring the ship down after the Shattered World arc, nearly killing Nicole in the process. But this more then makes up for it. Good job.

...well, I'm sold.
This is going to be SO MUCH FUN to dub with Andrew when we get to this point. Fun note: Both of us are known for having similar temperaments. It takes a lot to get us angry, and when something does people kinda tend to be scared of us. This scene alone tells me Shard and Nicole are similar: They both can only take so much before they both take out their full wraith on those who brings it out of them.
Not to mention THIS is how you best display how the two of them are stronger with each other. Together, they can accomplish many things and are each others greater strengths.
