Description
I've been promising this to several people, and now it's time to show them! -name removed- (a deviant in her own right) is a model who did the job.Metals: 1/4" 16ga anodized aluminum rings in pink, turquoise, purple and magenta (different mixes in the top and bottom)
Patterns: European 4-in-1 (cups and bottom) and Persian 3-in-1 (ropes)
Construction Time: 12 hours

Nope. It picks up and stays pretty much as skin temperature. She, my wife, several female friends of mine and myself have all worn chainmaille pieces of different types directly on skin and remained very comfortable.

I'm not getting a tremendous amount for it, but I did get the services of a funny, happy, enthusiastic model for hours. Hence the fun shots. *smile*

Muchly! She and my girlfriend got along so well (I was a tad worried beforehand) and we laughed and ate and worked on the outfit and took photos for hours.

At first, the chainmail is cold, but it sucks up body heat rapidly until it approaches skin temperature. Then it's as comfortable (if not more so) than a thin cotton shirt.
As a matter of fact, yes, they do hide the nipples just fine. *grin* According to Dani, though, they made 'em all 'squidgey' (don't ask me, I never figured out exactly what she meant by that). Seriously, though, I put linings into the outfits I make to prevent waffle-butt and waffle-boob.

I've had no trouble with the anodized aluminum chipping except where I occasionally scraped a ring by being a clumsy twit. *grin* I always throw those out after replacing them.

Both the bottom and top were very comfortable. I could sit with no problem and move around great. The only problem is that sometimes when you wear it tool long you get waffle butt or waffle boobs, but it's covered as long as you're wearing the outfit. If you want to avoid getting squinchy nipples, I suggest pasties, though I had no trouble going bare. I was delighted to model these pieces, and would gladly do it again and again. Hell, make me the spokeswoman for Chayn Lynx, I think the stuff is gorgeous (and very well made). Call me a customer for LIFE (Andrew and his girlfriend Rebecca, of course, were absolutely wonderful to me. Thanks, guys!)

How can I refuse that request?! You've got the job, Spokeswoman! An idea for your official uniform for The Chayn Lynx is already in the works...I'll get back with you after I start work on it. As for YOUR outfit, I'm working on the modifications we discussed, and when they're done (and you're not too busy), we'll discuss getting together for another shoot.

Very! Dani was wearing a turquoise thong underneath it for the shots, but it didn't cover all exposed skin. She believed me when I told her it should bind or scratch, but she was still surprised at how smooth the rings touching skin were. Still, I'm putting a stretchy, breathable lining in it to complete the piece.

As a matter of fact, I can direct you to the best basic chainmail pattern tutorial on the Internet. It's where I learned the European and Persian patterns myself. Follow [link] to "Kusari's guide to creating your own chainmail" and then "Chainmail Patterns". Kusari rocks! The book he sells is worth the money, too, because it details out the same patterns, melding patterns, altering them and useful fiddlings. I actually learned most of what he shows in the book on my own, THEN I bought the book, but I still find it a useful reference.

I was still working on the top in between shots because it turned out I'd made it so large that it covered too much! *laughing* The earlier pink-and-turquoise top was an almost perfect fit...I just had to taken an inch off the neck strap. *shakes head* Go figure!
I promise I'll get more shots of her with the complete matching set (and some other surprises) in the next few months, soon as I convince her to come back to Houston. She LOVES chainmail! *grin*

For the record, I like the slight mis-match, it keeps it fresh and unique. It matches enough to look like a set without coming across as redundant. But then, I always buy my bikini bottoms and tops separately, heh.
