The arrival of a brand new, extremely high-demand Nintendo console stirred up enough excitement in me that I had to draw my own original characters again! I bet you guys thought I forgot all about them!! Lilliana Wiesel and D are looking a little different these days, but I assure you, they're the same girls you always knew! The release of a new Nintendo console got D especially excited, and Lilliana, being the loving little darling that she is, needed to be right there with her. So here they are, celebrating the release of the Nintendo Switch together, sporting Neon JoyCon-themed dresses! Why JoyCon? Because they belong together, of course~

I had intended to try and have this piece done in time for the Switch release, wanting to post it right at 11:59PM on the night of March 2nd, so it would go up right at launch. Then I got in over my head with the details and decided to color it entirely differently than originally planned-- shocking, I know. Not gonna lie, I was pretty bummed. But then I got my hands on an actual Switch console the next day, played some Breath of the Wild, and everything was all better! Nah, not really. I still wanted to get this piece finished, but I knew it would lose its impact since I missed the launch. Then, just last night, I realized another fun little "holiday" was right around the corner. And today's the day! So, that said...

Ahhh these two <3 It's hard to tell what's an intentional design change and what could simply be owed to how much your style has improved. Lilli's hair for example still retains that style from past pics, but looks a lot more natural and believable as hair. Her figure also seems to have gotten more developed and mature, suitable for an adult Lilli. She's come along way from that goofy grin and over sized night shirt.
D on the other hand I feel like I haven't seen nearly enough of. Her hair doesn't seem distinctly black anymore, looking more like a dark red, but all I can tell has changed.
When in doubt, pinky out!
Can't say I'm thrilled about the Switch (especially since I JUST got a Wii U) but if it was enough to inspire a return from these two, it was worth it.

Admittedly I'm still not 100% on D's hair. It's certainly something that demands more experimentation. But I opted for a more red tone this time, naturally, given the occasion. I'm glad Lilli comes across the way she does, though. She's gotten much more adult over time, but she's the same Lilliana we've always known! I'm sure I would have been drawing them again in due time, but it felt right to bring them back for this, too, knowing D is every bit the Nintendo fan that I am

But you have done well no doubt, and I adore how bright they appear. The glow from behind them makes them feel so much bigger and shinier with their lovely figures accentuated by the near enough matching dresses ^^ Kudos to you for the extra mile you put into it!

Well! Initially, I was gonna do standard downward lighting from a front angle. But then I thought how cool it would look if the Switch logo behind them was the thing casting light instead of the camera! So I switched gears and went for a backlighting look instead! Maybe you all would have been satisfied either way, but I'm happy with my decision, anyway! Thank you for commenting!

Thank you! I had a lot of fun designing the outfits. I made sure to incorporate plenty of - and + insignia across their attire, as well. I wonder how many people noticed their sandal straps? ;D Thanks for commenting!

I was smitten with the idea as soon as it hit me. The colors were the hardest part! You can't really produce neon without desaturating everything else!! Thanks for commenting! Sorry my response came five months late!!
