I was always the little kid who would absolutely bawl whenever I accidentally let go of my balloons after a party. I couldn't stand the thought of them floating off into the sky without me. My parents would always console me, telling me that they were free now, and that we should be happy for them.Whenever I see a stray balloon bobbing along high above, I can't help but smile. I hoped to capture both feelings in this picture. Both the distress and sadness of seeing them leave, but also the sheer joy in being airborne.

I was the same way when I was little! I hated letting a balloon go. I felt like they couldn't survive if they were in the air without me.
As for the picture, great colors against the clouds in the background. I like how you caught her in mid-jump, because you do see the distress as well as the joy felt. The distress comes from the hand reaching out...she's stretching as far as she can but just can't get to those balloons. I like the symmetry of the balloons being airborne at the same time she is. Great shot.

I really was terrible. I'd sit myself right down in the middle of a parking lot if I lost my balloon and absolutely throw a fit. I think it's the way that little kids are though--losing anything is awful enough, let alone having to sit and watch as it gets farther and farther away >.<

bit strange though the woman jumps so high at the same time she losses the balloons, or thats what I think when I see it
