Description
Here's a 3d homage to *ElsonWong 's Ashworth character piece "Blaze in the Snow ". It was done as a proof of concept to test the versatility of the custom Daz shape model I made. More info on that here: [link]The lighting and rendering was done using Daz Studio's native 3delight rendering engine, which is a Pixar Renderman compliant system. (Not bad for a default engine, I must say. =]). Touch up work was done in Photoshop.
As I mentioned before, although it is capable of producing fairly decent renders, the intent for these kinds of pieces is more as a visual reference and mock-up tool more than a finished piece. The artist could conceivably take this piece and continue to paint fine detail into it like proper fur, hair, and background elements. Alternatively it could also simply be used as drawing reference for a proper sketched, inked and colored piece. Lots of ways of bringing this to the next level. =]
The main thing to take away is that the geometry and rendering capabilities are simplified so that they can be rapidly posed and lit without much of the pre-planning and forethought involved in setting up full blown 3d renders. I simply had to load Ashworth in, pose him, light the scene, set the camera angle and then 'render' a snapshot.
