Boy am I proud of this piece!I've got two people to thank because of their artistic influences:
- He is currently one of my top favourite artists this year for anything 'anthro-cartoony'. His stuff is brilliantly full of life, cute, fashionable and clean. Simplicity and clean line-art are his influences on this piece.
- She is also another artist I've been watching very recently. I LOVE her bad-ass character designs. They're sexy, colourful and dynamically posed. Interesting colour contrasts and shading work are her influences on this piece. So a big thank you to those two! Please continue to keep up the terrific stuff!
Oh and of course a BIG thank you goes to everyone who has helped contributed their feedback and opinion on Ashworth's redesign.
Ashworth Three Designs I need your opinion. Currently considering a redesign of Ashworth. The question is: SHOULD HE WEAR PANTS? (if so why?) Okay so I'll give Ashworth pants to wear. Which design do you like most?I can't help but show my appreciation by taking notes on the suggestions shared by friends/fans/artists and applying them on this piece.

My comic work is taking in a new direction and I'm confident that I will come up with something completely new and unexpected.

So it looks like Ma Fei may make a comeback to the new story but what about the others? I have no further plans made yet, I just want to focus on Ashworth's story mainly first off (and Ruby will play a major role as well, so be expecting to see her in the near future!).

Question: How do you make lineart merge with colors so well? I think you explained this before but I forgot where so... sorry for bothering you.
This coloring is amazing though, you are making a very quick progress.
The pants idea really depends on the style of anthro you are planning to use. If you want him to have more natural look (anatomy vise) then pants it is!

The secret?
Finish your completed drawing (that is fully coloured AND, more importantly, has clean and thin lineart). Next you copy the layer on top of the original. Then on the 'copy' layer apply Gaussian Blur on it. Adjustments will require experimentation.
The next thing you need to do is change the PROPERTIES of the blurred layer. This is where you'll have to land another round of EXPERIMENTATION to get it looking just right. I chose HARD LIGHT for this piece.
Hope that works! Play around and you'll find the right set of combinations that work for you!

This is all about the Fire Within and the Burning Heart--'nuff said.
I'm really glad you decided to stick with the bare upper body and a tasteful and cool-looking pants scheme; the color does a wonderful job at contrasting with his fur color, and the ripped leg helps to tell you about his personality.
What's even better is the Look he's shooting at you--Confidence and general Bad-Assery all in one!!
The lighting does a great job at bringing out the scenery--snow and sunlight make for a palette of marvelous combinations.
Here's hoping for a great Story when it's his time to debut!!

You know.. I seem to always liked how Ashworth looked, and seeing the redesign of him from the input from others looks just amazing! It seems the great colorscheme with blue and yellow with white mix quite well! Not to mention how I seem to have that kind of warm feeling again, you must have put some orange there with the yellow ^^
I still have yet to read the comic you've done with your original characters here, I think I've read only one part of it back in the days, but I can't remember x_x I should just go buy that manga book you have XD how that would make it so much easier for me! Also man.. I just seriously love that little ghost guy thing.. I don't know what it is yet, but I just seem to love how he's glaring or looking down at us, that's pretty cool! Even with the background kind of faded in the background, shows well they're in a snowy kind of forest. Is this what you were talking about when I showed that empty snowy area outside my house? XD

Yup, what you said about the snow is pretty much what I meant for this drawing.
The adding of warmth (i.e. yellow and oranges) was a last minute experiment. I felt that the blues and greys made it a little dull, so I thrown in some warm colours to contrast it - it worked well!
Regarding the books I still have the old self-printed ones to sell in future conventions but I recommend the 'newly designed' books. They are in stock via IndyPlanet: [link]
I'm still in the process of planning how ASHWORTH: Tales of the Cursed Wombat will be portrayed in future, I think I'll be releasing concept images as a starter and go from there.

Awww, Ash doesn't have his epic croch anymore. Oh well, easy come easy go.
But all in all, you GREATLY approved Ashworth since he looks alot less sonicy, than the previous versions, due to the fur detail, which I still tend to struggle with.
Oh, and you did awesome on the whachamacallit scarf-demon thing. Looks alot more intimidating and less Soul Eater-ish than the previous version.
The pic itself looks AWESOME!
But I would have to argue that his right leg looks kinnda weird, I dunno.
When are you planning to dish out Ruby and Fei?
Preferably Fei 1st, because you didn't really show much of him in that early preview, other than 1 eye, and I'd like to see how you've gone to make him look like a horse that he is, rather than a dog-look-alike. XP

Thanks RiotaiPrower! I'm very pleased with the smoothness of the lines and it's thanks to Super-tuler for the clarification on how he does his line-art. That sparked my interest to ink the way I used to do it, and this time it is done on Paint Tool SAI.
The dynamic lighting is Roksana TH's influence, I have her to thank for letting me experiment on colour contrasts and getting it just right to make it more appealing than usual.
