Description
Ahh, Sonic fanart? Well, not quite. I just thought that this model would be a perfect thing to test my refining and material rendering skills. It had just the right amount of detail I wanted to work with.It was extracted in segments from STH 2006. I took it into 3ds Max to patch it back together by welding verticies, and then applying subdivision smoothing and sub-scattering shaders to produce this glazed ceramic effect.
I hope you like. =]

I really learned much of how Sonic's full body of shape in 3-Dimensions and I was wondering of ya do the model in 360Β° or something like that, but with the model from Sonic Unleashed or the other modern games with the similar form.

I like the one in the middle most I think sonic's missing the straps on his shoes though. Were you not able to get those?

The straps are there. You just can't see them because they are part of the shoe's mesh. ie. it's not raised as a geometry itself. In order to see it, I would just have to color it differently. XD

You managed to put the Sonic model back together and made it all shiny and what not! SEGA paid a lot of attention to making their character models in Sonic '06 look as good as they did in Blur Studio's CG cutscenes. This is some nice stuff and I can't wait to see what else you can do with it!
(Did you know Sonic was originally going to be fuzzy and Silver was going to be a liquid metallic grey? True facts. :3 )

I worked in that material in some recent universityΒ΄s projects of mine! But in my case was been to concept kitchenΒ΄s itens!
Great job with the hedgehog^^
See ya!

There's a chance that I might make him real life. My university has rapid prototyping machines (Aka 3-D printers) for students to use at a nominal fee.
So I could 'rint' it out if I wished. XD

Very, very nice work Chem : D. I won't comment on the model itself, since it's SEGA's, but I WILL say that you did an incredible job on that glaze finish effect. Keep it up : P

Wow.
Awesome rendering.
It does look like a ceramic render =] .
Very nice, it looks professional, as if Sonic Team made it!
Keep it up, Chem-san!

Well, Sonic Team did make it, I meant as if they had welded the vertices and added the ceramic shinyness.
^^'

That looks Quite amazing. The lighting effects make it as real as if it were made by handsculpting it for real. Keep up the good work ^^.
What other plans I wonder are in store for this model.hmmmm

Well, I was planning to rig it so I can pose it as I needed, but aside from that, not much. It's not completely my work afterall so I shouldn't be putting too much work into it, lest I want to get in legal trouble XD
