Description Yea, I'm transgender, (ftm) and I get alot of shit for that, from everyone, friends, random people..and above all else. My family. I knew my parents would have an issue, my abusive father told me to die (go figure) I don't care what he thinks because I don't have contact with him. My mother is..trying as best she can, my brothers..one doesn't understand but he lives with my father and don't see him. And the other? He is the most transphobic, asshole ever to live. It makes my skin crawl..the fact I share blood with him. Yea.. I could say alot about my brother but that's not what this is about.

The lyrics are from a song by bullets and octane and something that I wish he'd do..but hes too closed minded to do it (yes I have alot of hate in me and an explosive temper, but I tend to deal with things in a less agressive way). My brother posted a whole bunch of shit on facebook about me, whatever. He can have his opinions. I am proud of who I am, but people need to remember, we didn't chose to be born this way either. In fact if gender was a switch we could flick whenever we felt it the world would be easier for everyone.

Transphobia, homophobia, biphobia and all the rest? XD They make humanity ugly, why are we so caught up in other peoples lives?

You can't choose family unfortunately, excellent drawing and I hope you find a place in life where you're accepted for who you are. Transphobia is ugly and I'll show you all the support I can

I searched up "transphobia" and only got three pages! According to my computer, it isn't even a word! There should be more art criticizing these sorts of discriminatory sentiments.

Also: why would your friends give you shit for who you are? Are they in all honesty transphobic or are they uneducated in transgendered/transexual issues? A mix of both?

well I believe that being transphobic comes from not understanding, most of the friends I've now dropped had no idea what it was. I also believe the way the media portrays sex changes and such doesn't help either, some tho, were just straight up against it, believing we should just live with what we were given. And I totally agree, I don't have much pride, but I believe in letting this cause be heard, hating anyone for things they were born with is against my morals. Hopefully this will raise awareness

I think people are caught up in other's lives because they're honestly depressed/unhappy with their own or bored as fuck or scared of what they generally don't understand. It's what gossip and hate is all about.

i'm just curious for your opinion, but do you think MtF transsexuals are underrepresented in the media? i have seen many documentaries and movies for FtMs (don't get me wrong, thats a good thing) but none for people like you. is it just me or is that common?

yea i thought thats what you meant. I agree people assume there are more mtf's out there when reality its 50/50, I'm not sure why this is, i don't feel we are taken seriously by the media.

I know this comment is really old but I would like to point to the manga hourou musuko aka wandering son the writer wanted to make the book mainly about the ftm character but she realized while writing the book that of someone seen as a girl in the public eye to dress as a man it isn't as big of a deal and thats sadly true in the book she does focused alot on the problems of the ftm character but when it comes to the drama from the people around its mostly around the main mtf and for what its worth one of the first true representation of a trans character with out any jokes or them being a sick or twisted villan was a ftm and I also know a person that came out as ftm and within months was dressing as a boy JUST MONTHS!!! compared to half of the mtf I know they have been out for longer and yet still dress the same and all that.....because to the public its "weird" for a "man" to wanna be a girl..I mean I can only name one big time mtf character thats out there in real media that ISN'T a joke Β and I dont agree with the other persons comment of "you guys have it worse" its bad for both sides one may be less represented in the media but also is less likely to be ridiculed in public and at the end of the day the pain and depression is the same but for the opposite reasons

also I would like to say I do like this art its really good and yeah I have had my fair share of ***holes...though it wasnt as bad as this.....I hope things have gotten betterΒ

I really like this.

And to answer the question I'd have to say it's mainly because people don't see trans, gay, bi anything like that 'normal' they classify normal as straight, a girl is a girl and a boy is a boy. Especially people around my town. Anything outside a person's 'normal' view is disgusting/disturbing to them.

I've a very close friend who is transgendered (M2F), and she did the whole denial/self-loathing/kicked out of the family bit. She turned to drugs and alcohol and it's a wonder she didn't kill herself before she was finally arrested for DUI. Fortunately that was a wake-up call she heeded.

These days she's true to herself and overall much happier for it. Her attitude is "I like myself; if you don't like me that's your problem. You deal with it and stop bothering me!" I hope you can reach a point where you can lift your finger to the world and tell them to piss off!

Take care and be good to yourself!

"They make humanity ugly, why are we so caught up in other peoples lives?"

Good question. The way I see it, as long as someone isn't out committing crimes and getting into trouble and stuff, nobody should be sticking their nose in other peoples' lives.
But that's just me and my "liberal slander". -Shrugs-

I'm sending good mojo your way.
I hope things get better soon.

I likes.

To answer your question from an overly opinionated view: People have these 'phobias' because it's 'cool' and because they have nothing better to do with their sad little lives than focus on someone else's 'problem' to take away the attention from their own glaring imperfections.
Why do you think certain heteros don't want the gblt community to have any respect and the simple right of marriage? Because then they'd have to focus on their own marriage problems instead of getting divorced when they have problems because they don't want to work it out. :/ Economically, our little rainbow would help give the economy world round if we were all allowed to marry our partners. (I mean, c'mon, not to sound like an ass, but gay men (at least the flamboyant ones) would have fantastically expensive weddings instead of the civil unions they're allowed.)

As a fellow FtM, I understand your pain to a point, my family isn't outright malicious, they just choose to ignore it and in turn invalidate it. A year from now they'll have no choice but to make a stand on it, though. The choice? Love me, or leave me the hell alone. I'd rather surround myself with people who love and understand me than keep clinging to my childish want to make everyone in my family happy.

I also have to agree with what someone else said on a trans thread I'm on: What is it with all the FtMs wearing necklaces? XD I see pics of them and they're all wearing them. I wore one for a few months and got tired of it. :/

CherryPOPBottoms In reply to FaythsAbandyn [2010-08-28 12:30:16 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for everything man, and I agree, it's people that don't want to admit things or think about why they fear thats a problem. Also..I love necklaces..its weird but all the Fmts I know wear necklaces too...what is with that hahaha

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FaythsAbandyn In reply to CherryPOPBottoms [2010-08-28 23:24:37 +0000 UTC]

D: I have no idea why, it's weird. But yeah, that was always my experience with haters. Like this short, nasty broad at work who's so full of 'God' that she hates me for my 'lifestyle' thinking I'm lesbian. D: It's like niatch, not only am I NOT lesbian, but there wouldn't be anything wrong if I was, so there. But I didn't want to have to take the hour to explain what a pansexual is and prove that you can love someone based on their sexy mind instead of what's in their pants. The funny thing is, I'm an FtM dating an FtM.
What's more hilarious is that the Jehovah that I worked with in my department got *really* offended and said the woman wasn't a true Christian if she was going to judge me and make assumptions like that.

But people will be people, and sadly we have to deal with them. If only they knew how sad and ignorant they sounded. :/

Maybe it's better than focusing on how empty our own lives are? I honestly have no answer for that last question. Anyway, I expect if you get many comments here there will be a few less than pleased ones. Just don't bother replying to them. So were you drawing this up to pass the time or working through some feelings?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CherryPOPBottoms In reply to SacredAscent [2010-08-28 03:21:20 +0000 UTC]

well, I was really really pissed, so it was a way to work through my feelings since my usual outlets (drugs and alcohol) are gone, I've needed to find other ways of healthily dealing with my emotions. Drawing is a good one, and I sued to use it but stopped, now I am again and it actually feels pretty awsome. There will always be those that hate XD but really longa s those important to me don't Xd I don't care what people on here comment haha
