Oh look bird bait
Also hey I wrote a small thing, mainly because I wanted to do it in comic form to really get the vibe across but dang it my free time does not line up

Tenga listened to the old spitehunter issue out information and orders about this new spite, the Tickwook, with a grit to this teeth. It sounded like he'd saved the best - the worst - for last. But they would not be having any deaths this Warptide, not if he could help it.

So as the group of spitehunters-in-training broke off into groups to plan, his own formed silently of those that had joining his back in dealing with the Shambles. His eyes narrowed in on a certain bird bastard. Oh hell no.

Already Kuma and Kena were beginning the foundations of a plan. And Tenga stormed right past them. Right to where Russet stood pointedly off to the side with his arms crossed, making it clear he was not there by choice but even he wasn't stupid enough to attempt taking on such a spite on his own.

Partially because he was a coward.

Tenga shoved him up against the nearest tree with a massive forearm pinning his shoulders from moving. Even in his startled shock Russet managed to cut back with a burning look of hatred, but then again Tenga had never seen anything else shine in there. Russet smartly withheld comment with Tenga's massive claws so close to the throat, for now anyway.

"Now listen here yellow belly," Tenga growled and made sure said claws dug in a smidge to prove his point, earning a slight flicker of fear to surface for a second before it was buried along with any other redeeming qualities the bird boy may allegedly have in favour of appearing like he was above it all.
"We're out here under the assumption each one of us has each other's backs. You start being a coward again and we're all left with a weak point. And like that Scuffed Shell was telling us about, we can't take risks if we need to coordinate."

Tenga heaved Russet up a little higher on the trunk, just to make sure his attention hadn't wavered in the slightest, "If you think for a second I'll let you put these two," he jerked his head over his shoulder to where Kena and Kuma stood then leaned in real close so his horn threated to poke Russet in the forehead, "In any danger like that, then you won’t have to worry about the spites."

With a final exhale he pulled back from snarling up into the red gros face but kept the hold on him, "The only reason I'm letting you come with us at all is because I don't want you causing anyone else trouble, not anyone that doesn't know what you're really like. And despite what this looks like I don't want anyone dead."

With that Tenga pushed off him and backed away, starting to stalk off into the forest, "Besides, you'd make perfect bait with all that chattering teeth and cowardly snivelling."

And he was right, Russet made great bait and lured out one spicy Tickwook and the other three were waiting on the sidelines with rope and weapon to quickly take it out no problem.
Right?
