Hey I use Buncho too, for now. I didn't use pallete before when I was a kid, I go straight from the tube. But then I had the need to mix colours so I used pallete eventually. ^^ Wonderful tutorial. I never really get to watch the anime... though I really want to. ^^

I have a question, how do you prevent water edges?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cherubchan In reply to madam-sketchy [2010-11-26 02:37:38 +0000 UTC]

Normally, as the paint is drying, some water edges form right? So, just wet your brush a little and start dabbing the water edges until it's gone. Hopefully this helps!

It's a really helpful tutorial <3
Can you tell me what's the paper weight of paper you use, and ofc if it has a... uh, some kind of "pattern"? Ya know, that thing which makes paper not so smooth, but rather scratchy

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cherubchan In reply to Tessay [2010-10-24 04:33:31 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much!
I duont really know that. Normally I'll just take any printing paper and colour on it.
I dont use specific paper, but if you want patterns just find some water colour paper. I've never really tried those.. *I ish a noob* >.>

Tessay In reply to cherubchan [2010-10-24 07:18:50 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I see... O_o' So I wonder how you keep this piece of paper straight, cause mine priting paper goes all wavy and such xD' But thanks a lot ^^
(I've tried those kinds of paper and it's just that it won't get wavy and won't soak so much as printing paper :3 Though I really dont know if I'll be painting more with watercolors, but maybe when I in the end will learn this great technique, then... Who knows )

cherubchan In reply to Tessay [2010-10-24 15:23:53 +0000 UTC]

Lol! It is never straight. It's normally wavy, but I try and edit it off on photoshop (yes, I'm guilty of cheating)

Even my sketchbook paper get's wavy and I'm not impressed at all by it. ><<
Surely, you'll be a great painter!

my my! its wonderful and great, thank u so much for this useful tutorial.

if u pardon me may i ask, what colors should use for skin?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cherubchan In reply to nicholastse [2010-01-22 15:18:33 +0000 UTC]

^____________^
My pleasure!

Hmm, depends on whether it's dark skin or light skin.
Normally I'll use peach color, with some orchard brown, red-brown and a darker brown for shadows. The amount of each color used depends on the type of skin u are colorin. Eg, dark skin; normally will need more red-brown tones and a pale skin will need more peach (more diluted with water)

This is a really helpful tutorial!
I tried some photoshoping with bad results...
So, I decided to improve some "concrete" techniques like watercolours.

Good work!
