Description Emerald Tree Boa

Did you know?
These boas are non-venomous and are native to South America in the rain forests.
They can grow to be up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) in length.
Baby Emerald Tree Boas can be various shades of light to dark orange, or even brick red, before turning green after living for 9 to 12 months.
The zigzag on its back are commonly referred to as "Lightning Bolts."

Wow impressive. Truly a spectacular shot with impressive focus. Gives the atmosphere of fear to me, and the colour of the snake really stands out nicely on it's backdrop. Nicely done!

A beautiful photo of such a magnificent snake.

Great composition, beautiful lighting and a great depth of field! My favourite part about this would have to be the detail in the scales, kinda makes me want to stroke it .

Oddly, you're not the first person to say you wanted to touch the snake!    Thank you so much!

wolfloversas In reply to cheslah [2013-09-22 22:19:15 +0000 UTC]

It is a very nice photo, and the focus and texture is probably my favorite part. Though touching it however... well, let's just say I'm not a huge fan of snakes.

You're like my husband, haha.  I asked him if he liked the photo before I posted it to DA.  He said no, I asked what was wrong with it.  He said there was a snake in the picture.

wolfloversas In reply to cheslah [2013-09-25 02:04:43 +0000 UTC]

He has some sense, at least. Snakes creep me out though. I think it partially has to do with the fact that it's hard to see personality and feelings in their eyes and such. Dogs and cats give fairly obvious body signals. Snakes... they hiss. That's all I could think of to know how they're feeling.
