I must admit, I've been a bit hesitant to show off my Sonic FCs on dA, because I was worried about the impact this would have on others' perception of my fine art practice. However, now that one of my characters, Julienne, has sort of been thrust into public by this fantastic comic by my friend mandy-kun , I can see that there is a community of serious artists here who manage to balance the two, and would be very supportive. So...

Team Muse is a group of FCs I have developed, to fit into the same fan-canon as Neve , Haydrian , Strider and Ace , and the Kawa Crossing bunch. Our canon has been specifically developed around the Archie Sonic continuity-- but as if the most recent Genesis Wave never actually happened, and thus the world was not reset. Ostensibly, Team Muse is comprised of five friends, each focused on a different artistic discipline, who travel the world hoping to perfect their craft and find new sources of inspiration. Along the way, they also frequently find themselves having all sorts of adventures together which test their resolve and their friendship.

The founder of Team Muse, and its unanimously appointed leader, is Alexei, an echidna originally from Albion. He is both the group's resident visual artist and writer. For his design, I did borrow some affectations from myself (like the jacket). However, his resemblance is only superficial; he has a distinctly different personality than I do, and he was always intended to be his own character and not an author-insert. Alexei is much more adventurous and rebellious, and he has a far easier time making friends. He has a tendency to be overly confident in himself, which has backfired on him a few times-- most notably and most spectacularly, when his recklessness resulted in his studio in Mercia being located and burned to the ground by Robotnik's attack force.
