For my Material and Technique's class we had to choose a Tatsuyuki Tanaka piece from his Cannabis Works and then duplicate it on scratchboard. It's my first time using scratchboard so it took me 3 straight days and one all-nighter to finish ;_;Original picture: [link]

wow, that is amazing! i'm just blown away by the intense details. that helmet's sweet! and this is scratchboard!? geeeeez, all those tiny fine lines, this must have been a doozy, but i have to say it was extremely well worth it.
was this class materials and techniques for sequential or illustration? cuz i'm taking this class (the one for sequential) and i'm just curious on how the professor workload is (i mean, your piece looks pretty intense)

As far as I know, Larison is the only professor that explores the scratch board medium in the Materials and Techniques class. I hafta say the workload in his class was pretty EXTREME but in the end I don't think I've learned as much from any other professor xD;; Who do you have?

Aruri~ you should give scatch board a go cause it really isn't as hard as it seems! And I used super thin sheets for this project, it cost me around a dollar for the paper. It's like reverse cross-hatching xD;;
