It's the third day of classes, and I've finally got one that relates to my major. Today I have music theory and some other boring class that I think is biology. I have another lesson with Theo in the afternoon, the first one since the night we spent together over the weekend.

After breakfast, he put me through another one of his torturous lessons, although he was in a better mood than he was the day before. Still, I had to play the same scale about fifty times, this time entirely in whole notes, while he walked around me, moving my arms here or there or telling me to put more or less of my weight on one leg or another. Then he had me maintain that position for fifteen minutes so that I would remember how it felt. We then sat around for a good part of the day watching famous violinists perform just so that he could pause and ask me what they do differently from me. I didn't quite understand the exercise and found it rather boring, but the amount of energy and joy Theo seemed to be putting into it motivated me to keep going. Eventually the doorbell rang and I got kicked out so that he could give some kid a cello lesson.

The last few days dragged on monotonously enough, and that's why I'm sitting here in this little classroom with maybe five other people a half hour before the lecture was to begin.

The reason I say classroom instead of hall is because that's exactly what it is: a classroom. There's a dry-erase board on one white-washed wall, a handful of desks, maybe about thirty, and a piano in the corner opposite of the messy desk the professor was to occupy. I didn't really expect anything fancier, but I did feel a bit disappointed after seeing all the fancy facilities where people took their economics classes or their language ones.

"Hey, um..."

I look to my side and find a girl sitting next to me, scooting the desk a little closer. "Yes?" I ask  a little confused by why she was approaching me.

She grins, clearly pleased that she had my attention. "I noticed I recognized you from my calculus class a few days ago and decided that, since we were going to see each other often, we might as well try to be friends!"

Something about her seemed inherently goofy and childish, as if she hadn't quite grown out of her immature actions. It may have just been the fact that she was wearing a brightly colored shirt of some cartoon character who's name I was not familiar with. Her long, blonde hair was pulled back into a ponytail, but much of it was already staring to come loose.

"Alright then..." I try to smile back at her. "My name's Ivan. You?"

"Madelyn. Call me Maddie though. That's what all my really close friends call me." She was grinning still, but you could tell by her facial expression that an idea came across her mind by the way the light in her eyes changed. "Can I ask you something?" she asked quickly, the glint looking almost menacing if it wasn't for the innocent curiosity in the rest of her expression.

"I think I might regret this, but okay."

"Are you gay?"

"What?!" I nearly jump out of my seat, terrified that somebody had heard her or that somehow everyone could just look at me and know what had happened just over half a week ago. "How...?"

She grins again, squealing with joy because, I would guess, she got the reaction she was looking forward to. "You were gnawing on your lip when I walked in here, and you were pretty zoned out too. And then, when I sat down, I noticed this little mark just below your ear, which wouldn't fit with your violin leaving that mark from playing too often, and it wouldn't fit with a chick doing that because she wouldn't want to hide that sort of thing unless it was someone that you shouldn't be with in the first place. And I know you play violin because that big brown blotch on the left side of your neck isn't nearly as big as the one on mine, and I play viola."

I felt like I was about to faint. It was scary how much she could tell from just looking at me. Was the hickey that obvious? Could she see that one bite mark that hadn't quite healed entirely? Why the hell could she tell a violin hickey from a viola one? Is she even human?

"What's he like?"

I snap out of my thoughts and look over at her, cheeks reddened. "Um...He's older...And he's a little shorter than me...He's got brown hair and green eyes and he dyed his bangs green for some reason that I don't quite know yet..."

She sighs. "He sounds dreamy. Why haven't you seen him recently?"

"The weekend isn't recent?" I inquire, and when she shakes her head no, I sigh. "I dunno. I mean, I'm pretty sure I'm in love without any hope of getting out of it in one piece, but I'm not sure about how to go forward with it...Like, I don't want to admit to myself that I like him, but I like him..." I hear her sniffle and I get a little nervous. "What's wrong?"

"It's just so cute!" she whines. "It's like when Haru told Makoto that he's glad that he's there for him all the time and doesn't strictly say that he loves him but it's implied and it's just so cute!"

I'm getting a little confused by this. "Um..."

"Ask him to be the Makoto to your Haru! Ask him Ivan! Don't be afraid to show him your love!"

"Shut up! The professors coming in—" I'm cut short by Theo coming in, dress shirt and tie and slacks and all, setting down an armful of materials, and turning around to face us.

"Hello, class, my name is Theodore Roberts, I'll be filling in for Professor Schmidt today due to some family issues. I hope you all have a great next semester."

I look over at Maddie, and she's giving me this look like she's trying to communicate something, and I glare at her, hoping that my irritation is expressed completely.

"Excuse me, young man in the blue. Is something the matter? Because there are many other seats open in case you are having a dispute."

I look up at Theo and shake my head. "No, everything's fine. I'll be sure to behave."

He smiles at me, and I know Maddie's trying not to giggle as I blush. "Good. Now, then, let's begin with..."

I can't quite remember what we talked about in class; everything was a bit of a blur involving green and brown and white. My notebook, however, was taken up with some sorts of writing so I figure that I must have been paying attention on some level. All I do know is that as everyone else is standing up to leave, Theo tells me to stay back for a few minutes.

"Yeah?" I ask once everyone has left and Theo shuts the door.

"Just wanted to say hi," he says with a smile. The professional air around him dissipated, and I was once again alone with the Theo I was used to seeing. "Did you have any trouble from that girl? You could've just moved?"

"Nah, it's alright." I run a hand through my hair. "She just figured me out so quickly I didn't know what happened."

"Figured you out?" He sounded confused. He closed the distance between us and hooked our fingers together.

I blush a bit. "She uh...She figured out that I was with a guy..."

"You sound like that's a bad thing."

I blush even more, looking down. "I-it's not! I'm just not used to it...I've never been in a relationship before, so I don't really know what to expect, and we haven't seen each other in a few days, and I'm a little nervous about being with you, and it just want things to work out and—"

"Woah there," he says, chuckling a little. "I was going to ask if I could give you a ride back to my place. I canceled the lesson after yours and I was thinking about making pasta for dinner. Kind of like a date or something. I want things to work out too you know."

I blush. "O-oh...Well, I've got another class in half an hour...so maybe then? If that's okay with you?"

He kisses my nose. "Sounds good. I've got some stuff to deal with in the professors office so take your time. Meet me here  once you get done with classes, and we'll go from there."

I'm blushing as I nod.

"Oh, and Ivan?"

"Yeah?" I look up at him, a mistake because I instantly get lost in deep, green eyes.

"Wanna go out? I don't think I've really asked you that yet." Even his cheeks are pink at this time.

I nod slowly, looking back down. "Y-yeah...I better go..."

I'm wrapped up in a hug the very next second. "I know it's weird timing, but I've been meaning to say that I love you. So...I promise this will work out."

Nodding again, my arms find their way around him. "Alright. I promise I'll try my hardest. I...I think I might love you too."

His lips meet my cheek. "I'll make you know that you do. Now get to class, or else I might get mad at you for not paying attention to other subjects. See you in a little bit."

I smile at him and sneak a quick kiss from him, deciding that I would let myself be loved. I'm not going to hide myself from what I want anymore; I'm going to love him completely and make myself happy along the way. I'm going to be love him, and I'm going to make it last forever.
