Description

"Waiting--if you play poker, you'll know how to do this. Would love to test out how well those militants who stole those GTF-11 Drios would do against me. Can't believe they got away with SIX of 'em and I could say The Powers That Be have a hand in this, but at least it'll mean I'll be able to get rid of more of The Powers That Be's proxies.

Now that I think about poker, I wish I were back at Bally's Las Vegas right about now. WSOP is going on and I missed the $1500 Seven Card Stud event because of these dillweeds."

Somehow found time over the last week to work on an Armed Jump Bike rebuild of sorts. Came across a crapload of parts that I could use for the rebuild--most important of which was the cockpit area. For the longest time, I was not able to get in contact with the guy who created the MMD Rideback model from years ago and as such, decided to bide my time until I found parts to replace parts that I would not feel comfortable using as part of a release. The new parts came in the form of the front of the COD AW Hoverbike thanks to kalash-1947 and the Air Tank from Sonic Riders--much thanks to Models124717 for the OBJ conversion--and it took me a few evening sessions to get right. OuO

I also ended up overhauling the arms and legs as previous iterations of the Armed Jump Bike looked like its arms were too unwieldy and legs were too short. I had initially tried to keep the vehicle from becoming too tall but as I thought about it this time around, I realized the legs would have to be longer for the design to work. When I saw the Mantis from the Halo series, I found what I wanted to use as the AJB's new arms and legs and thanks to ShaunsArtHouse 's XPS conversion of such, I've been able to move ahead with that overhaul as well.

As a side thing, I came across an OBJ model of the GTF-11 Drio from Lost Planet and ended up using the Jump Jets from the Drio on the Armed Jump Bike as it was a good fit for its backpack and all. I'm considering bringing the GTF-11 Drio to MMD once the Armed Jump Bike Rebuild is done--and out for release. Now some changes to the Armed Jump Bike's headcanon:

- The arms no longer carry GAU-19/B 12.7mm Rotary Heavy Machine Guns. Instead, they each field an experimental Rotary Pulse Laser that is designed for anti-personnel and limited anti-materiel work. The idea is that laser weapon technology is still at its infancy stage in Corpse Trigger canon and--at the time the Wild Weasel Unit was developed--could not sustain a laser beam from a single barrel due to the excess amount of waste heat generated. As such, the Gatling principle was used to make early laser weapons rotary-barreled.

Power output for laser weapons can be changed to allow for a higher rate of fire at the cost of destructive power or go in the opposite direction with more intense pulses with a lower rate of fire.

- The arms now carry physical shields which double as Pincer Claws for physical combat. The idea is that the Armed Jump Bike--unlike other bipedal armor of similar scale in Corpse Trigger--has arms and can use them to deliver crushing physical attacks against bipedal and conventional armor alike. The Pincer Shields allow for cutting and scissoring attacks on top of all that.

- The previous versions of the Armed Jump Bike required a Visor HUD of sorts. This revision does away with that as the cockpit has a built-in HUD. That said, a Visor HUD remains an option if the Armed Jump Bike must be fielded underwater, in which the Visor HUD would be worn with a rebreather or other underwater breathing apparatus.

- The Wild Weasel Unit now features a third pair of LAU-61 G/A Digital Launchers in place of the simplistic-looking eight-tube missile launchers. The reason for this was that the original launchers were supposed to double as Booster Units but the addition of the Jump Jets from the GTF-11 Drio made that idea obsolete.

And that's where the Armed Jump Bike Rebuild currently stands. I gotta figure out what to do with the AJB-DM as it's going to be the base for two CQB-based variants before everything's ready.

How this thing still stable when carrying all of that weight?

The internal gyro the Armed Jump Bike has lets it balance a great deal of weight from equipment but for a loadout like that of the 197 Special, it takes alot of skill to effectively maneuver the thing without losing balance and falling over. OuO

how about speed?

The Armed Jump Bikes are designed to be quite mobile--even with such heavy loads. That pretty much means their armor protection is not exactly the heaviest and as such, they depend more on mobility for defensive measures. OuO

It is. The base design, which normally has an auto-loading cannon on top instead of the Wild Weasel equipment (and additional armament to that) was mostly inspired by the Marauder (Battletech) while the configuration here that is piloted by Unit 197 makes it something of a cross between the Marauder and the Gun Sniper Leena Special (Zoids: New Century Zero).  One of my favorite configurations I've designed for it to boot. Thanks~! >u< -> OuO

Gonna try and tackle the other variants next chance I get. Just gotta find alternative shields and something to make mechanized claw hands out of for the two CQB variants. OuO
