Description Update - August 2014
thank you everyone for the continued support and use of this stamp over the years and for making it one of the most popular OC related stamps on this site. i'm glad you like it and please, feel free to continue to use it.

for an oc related website in which you can organize your ocs and update biographies and pictures of them, please visit charahub.com (it's really a great and cool website, and sign up is easy + free) go ahead a drop a link to your hub if you want me or others to check out your characters. i can't promise i can always check of if i do check i can't promise i can always reply, since this account is inactive for the most part and because i'm busy with work +  college, but i will do my best.

It's funny because I just recently drove my friend crazy with questions to make an OC for a roleplay she wanted me to join.

me to. i started my first oc in 3rd grade, now i'm in 8th and am still working on her... and all the others that i build along the way. so if that isn't working hard on them and putting a ton of thought into them, idk what is.

ive spent like, 2 or 3 years developing my ocs, i used to spend time looking up name meanings, ive changed their hair style, clothes and backstory lots of times, i edited my ocs when i see there too much like already made characters,i looked up what each zodiac sign means then chose the one that fits my ocs the best, and they're STILL in the development process, but its worth it ^^

This is very true. I've spent a long time (well, not a long time, actually) putting thought into my OC for a fanfiction. I only have 2 of them in it, and they play huuuuge rolls and they have to meet my standards... And I put one of them in there just to blow people's minds.

Usually it's an oc who has very little flaws, is often the kind of person the author wishes he was or a person created out of the author's personality themselves, usually have tons of talents and extreme beauty and no flaws to balance them out. they're boring characters

FortuneCookiesAru In reply to ??? [2012-06-18 04:03:23 +0000 UTC]

I can come up with an idea for an OC, but I take a lot of time to give my OCs personality and stuff! It's annoying (and a little funny) when people come up with bad characters. Especially when they make bad fan characters and don't follow any guidelines or anything.

I also put very very much time into my OCs- every OC is unique and different from each other, and it's good to fully develop them. I remember one time when I tried to write a certain manga- it didn't work because the characters weren't developed enough and I was putting too much effort into one, that I didn't realize that he was a Gary Stu. XD

No idea. It might be your internet browser.

GreenPunkEmoGirl In reply to ChibiGem [2012-05-24 06:44:07 +0000 UTC]

hm.. i guess it might be the browser, or the .gif itself wasn't set to loop endlessly.

i sorta fell bad now cuz it often takes me 5 minutes to think of a new oc

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ChibiGem In reply to maddilovesanime [2012-05-21 20:14:04 +0000 UTC]

it takes me short amounts of time to come up with the idea for an oc, but i spend months figuring out their background, outfits, personality, quirks, flaws, fears, and how they will be used in the story. if it's a minor side character who will appear maybe one in the entire story and is basically useless and insignificant to the plot then I don't bother. I'm been mulling over the same characters for the past few years, and I intend to use them in a comic or cartoon one day. I still feel like they need more development though.

'I hate how so many people assume that OCs are made in five minutes. I spend months developing OC's before I put them into a story. I hate all the Mary-Sues that give OCs a bad name.'
you win the internet. i couldnt agree more.

My oc was made in five minutes and was changed throughout the months of creating her. Its been at least a year or two and I'm still developing my oc Yuki Hughes XD.

I do put alot of thought in my ocs.

ViscusTerrae In reply to ??? [2012-03-25 22:57:45 +0000 UTC]

I would fave this, but sadly it's not true, I have quite a lot of OCs that really need to be developed more. But I do like other peoples OCs who have been developed well.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

Sapafiregirl [2012-03-25 07:01:35 +0000 UTC]

I couldn't agree more with you. I do hours of research and weeks of universe searching (How my character reacts to different things) just to make sure my character has no chance of becoming a Mary Sue...

Paranoia of Mary-sue's makes for a successful character.

In other words, Nice Stamp. Instant fav!

I've spent... what? 2 years fully developing my psychopath character? I've always got my nose in a psychology book try to make sure she's accurate. Sometimes I feel like I'm my own fangirl~

Lovin' this stamp. XD

ChibiGem In reply to Hailo95100 [2012-01-26 20:50:08 +0000 UTC]

Thans ^^ And same. I usually start with the basic design of the OC, and spend quite a while getting down their details and working out their personalities before using them in a story or comic. [:
