Agreed!
My whole math notebook is filled with OC concept arts of them, and I'm working on a possible manga idea....this has been going on for the past 6 months.
So I'm very grateful to you for making a stamp like this! I can't stand seeing the Mary Sues that didn't take long to make when I know I spend all this time on them for no appreciation
Anyways, enough rambling, thank you for the stamp.

beyond true. I put a lot of thought into them, then I try to redevelop them and let people see if they like.

My two oldest ocs took me almost four years to come to the final product, each have gone through at least five physical changes, personality changes, ability changes. I treat my ocs like my own children, a take care of them, help them develop and grow.

Yep, I'm one of these people, and I'm very, very cautious about this. Besides, I realized my first OC was a Mary-Sue.

so true, i spent years working on my OC and it's only now that i think she is worthy enough to be shown to the public, but she is still growing from there. I also hate it when people create an OC from naruto or fairy tail etc and they give them the same abilities as other canon characters or pic all the kick ass abilities from different characters. It especially makes no sense if that ability is supposed to be unique. The worse part is when they don't even attempt to explain or create a background story to backup why they have said abilities T_T d'you reckon you could make this into a plz stamp so non subscription users could use it ?

While I admit mine do need work (sort of new at this and started more for fun and a joke for a group but later tried changing them slowly over time), I do try to put thought into them. I created bios (mainly focused on Karasu's, so his is much more detailed and thought out than most of the others I have). I experiment and try giving them different styles and outfits, etc....Like others said, I put my soul into them and try to make them come to life. I don't really write the stories they are in, I mainly just design and rework them as well as create their bios.
I might draw random things with them for fun, but doesn't mean I didn't work on them or part of their actual story. I try to give them flaws, fears, hopes, dreams, goals, limits to their abilities ( alive or dead, I still have them planned out and fix them up. Most are currently dead except for in AUs, flashbacks/stories about them or with them in it before they died and random art for my amusement and experiments), etc.....If they accidentally look too much like someone else or act too much like someone else, I change them so they would be different.
I am not really for popularity (though it is nice if people really like them, but more on improvements. The comments I look for usually is ways to fix something and how the picture overall looks so I can correct it, they have more use and value to me than just "cool/nice pic", as that way I know I did something well or not. I seen people who gets tons of faves and comments when it seems like they hardly put work in at all (some are literally copies of other characters) while I usually don't get a whole lot. But in the end I am proud and like looking back at some of the progress that has been made and the hard work I put into my art and characters, even if I still have a long ways to go. ^^
I kind of like being unpopular/unnoticed as that way at least I am not known for being the worst out there and deal with trolls and flames. I mostly hate the edited/recolored OCs. They are just taking someone else's work. They don't learn anything that way, are stealing and just end up poorly done. Has no thought to them really. Just because some may be related to other characters, doesn't mean they would look or act exactly the same. They are their own character, or should be. They may have similarities like same hair or eye color and some facial features to show they are related, but should still look and be different (should also make some sense as well but oh well, little steps at a time).
And even if you start out with bad characters, doesn't mean you can't fix them up. We were all new at character creating and designing before and we all learned that somethings work while others don't and how for each story/series,things may work differently. What is normal or common for one series, would be extremely out of place and unfitting for others. It is mainly just trying different things and paying attention to that world, setting, etc....
I really do this just for fun.

I should probably look back at old comments before writing. Sorry about that.

For me, if I want to get favorites on something I make a picture of fractural twins. I have no clue why people like them so much but they do. I put a lot of thought into the concept and people really do like it. Sense I'm the creator of fractural twins if people like them I'm the only one who does them... at least to my knowledge. If anyone else does I don't mind.

Exactly. It's quite annoying when people pass over a fanfiction simply because it contains an OC or an OC-Canon Relationship. Granted, some OCs are less than spectacular, but there are great ones out there too. I spend time thinking of my OCs, usually I define them after a few months, but they still keep growing even then. My most recent one took about six months to get her where I wanted.

I used to have a lot of OCs that were bland or sueish. I spent hours, days, weeks, months, even YEARS in some cases thinking up their backstory. Sometimes all it boils down to is inexperience.

I'm with you all the way. I even work on the characters for OC's who barely appear in the story. They're gonna be side by side with my favorite canon characters, so they'd better be well thought out!

I completely agree with you. It's really quite annoying sometimes how people tend to overlook all the minor details, character development and story you put into one and write it off as being a Mary Sue! It hasn't really happened to me personally, but I feel for the artists that have to endure those kinds of comments. =_=" KEEP FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT!! XD

Agreed, I love when people spend time carefully creating a 3D character, though I must amit I myself am still in the begining stages of learning about however to develop a decent character. Hopefully, the lessons I signed myself up for will boost me up a few stages. ^^

yeah, My character Emily use to be like Bella (LAWL) because I could put myself directly in her place because we were practically the same person, except she had no flaws(XD). We even had the same name. Now, she has gold hair(I will never have that colour), multi color eyes(a part of her species) , magic powers, and is a princess that can be bitchy, is very messy, detructive at times, and just plain annoying (and she likes to be annoying purpose), every thing I'm not : )
