*Authors Note: This is written from Jessie's POV!*

Jessie took a deep breath. He was shaking and his mind was foggy. With a shaking finger he pushed the button in front of him, calling the elevator. It felt like it took the elevator an eternity to finally open up, allowing him to step inside and get one step closer to meeting SCP-049. Jessie grabbed his necklace, a golden cross on a black cord. He got it from his father for his 14th birthday. Back then he would have never thought he would end up in a situation just like this. All on his own, for that matter. Dr. Shu called him earlier, telling him that she will arrive a bit later, since Dr. Gordon wanted to have a talk with her. Again.

"I honestly don't know why Dr. Gordon literally demands for me to come to her and talk. She is acting quite strange these days. But who are we to tell her, right?" Dr. Shu told him that morning, right after Jessie had entered the facility. Indeed, ever since (y/n) had arrived, something seemed... off.
The elevator made a loud DING and opened the door. He had arrived. Jessie left the elevator and looked up the walls. They were dark and eerie and led into an even darker corridor, which made a sharp turn at the end of it. Jessie could hear voices echoing through the corridors, but he couldn't quite make out what they were saying.
'At leat they sound human...' Jessie thought and began to slowly make his way towards SCP-049's containment chamber. His steps were uneasy and his breath grew more and more heavy as he walked. What he felt wasn't just nervousness, it was legit fear. He was afraid of SCP's, more precicely, every SCP that wasn't a Safe object. Those things seemed like they would have spawned right from the depths of hell. He was afraid of their appearance, their manipulative behavior, afraid of how little the foundation actually knows about them. The fear of the unknown.
Jessie noticed two guards standing in front of a gate. They looked at him, their guns ready in their hands. One of them took a step closer towards him.
"Identify yourself!" he said in a low, demanding voice. Jessie grabbed his ID card and showed it to the guard.
"Mister- uhm, I mean, Doctor Jessie Felek. Sorry, I still have to get used to the new title. Dr. Gordon put me and Dr. Shu in charge of SCP-049 from today on." he said, trying to sound as confident as possible. The guard read his ID card carefully but nodded.
"Alright, go in then. Don't let the Plague Doctor touch you. Stranger danger." the guard joked and the other one started laughing. Jessie rolled his eyes, waited for the guards to open the gate and stepped inside.
The room was rather big, or at least bigger than he expected. There were levers on both sides of the room, on the right side was some kind of electronical console, were a man was sitting, writing on some papers. In front of Jessie, there as a smaller room, inside of the room he was in. It looked like a box made of glass with one heavy door leading inside. A woman in a lab coat stood in front of the box, looking at something on the inside. She and the man turned around when Jessie cleared his throat.
"I... uh, I am Dr. Felek. Dr. Gordon told me to come here and work with... SCP-049." he stuttered, feeling very nervous. The woman and man looked at each other before she talked.
"Ah, yeah, we heard. You will take over from here, I suppose. It's in here." she mumbled in a toneless voice, pointing towards the windows that give a clear sight into the box. Jessie hesitated, but feeling the stare of both of the researchers on his skin, he forced himself to move towards the windows.
"Working with that thing has been pretty boring, so you better get yourself some magazines or a handheld gaming console or something to bring here. It hasn't moved from that corner for weeks now." the woman added. Jessie's eyes wandered all over the place inside that room until he recognized the dark figure in the corner to the right. It was SCP-049. The SCP sat in an almost depressed or pouty position on the floor in the corner, looking down towards the ground, the tip of its mask almost touching its crossed arms in front of it. It didn't move one bit, it looked like it wouldn't even breathe. Jessie's nervousness suddenly turned into curiosity. He stood on his toes and leaned against the glass of the window, trying to get a better glimpse at the SCP. It is not as scary as he thought it would be. He jumped when the cross on his necklace hit the glass, causing a loud *click* sound inside of the empty box. 049 twitched and raised its head slowly, scanning the room for the source of the noise. Jessie felt like he was close to a heart attack. Instinctively, he grabbed the cross and jumped back from the glass. On the other hand, the two other researchers dashed towards the glass, gazing in awe at the finally moving SCP.
"Finally! It's moving again!" the man cheered and started to write down what he is seeing. The woman nodded, followong the SCP with her eyes. 049 stood up from the ground and took as step foreward. When it noticed Jessie behind the glass it approached the window, until its mask was only inches away. Jessie stumbled backwards, falling to the ground, the card from SCP-2203 slipping out of the pocket of his lab coat. SCP-049's head was twitching. Was it... snickering?
"Hello there, young doctor. Did I scare you?" a rough, but also polite sounding voice came out of the speaker next to the window. Jessie widened his eyes, just like the two other researchers.
"It talks! It talked!" the man cheered even louder. He ran back towards the gate and out of the room, still cheering as he walked into a sort of storage room. SCP-049 didn't avert its eyes from Jessie, though.
"I apologize for that. Lady, would you mind giving him a hand?" 049 looked at the woman from the corner of his eye. She nodded hastely, took Jessie's hand and pulled him up on his feet. Jessie thanked her under his breath, still shocked from the whole situation. He put the card back into his pocket in hope that no one saw what's written on it. Jessie swallowed. What is he supposed to do? He had never worked on a Euclid before, and now it's even behaving strangely. Jessie noticed how much he was panicking on the inside. Oh god, when will Dr. Shu finally arrive?!?
The other researcher came back from the storage room, carrying a camcorder in his hand. He pointed it towards SCP-049 and hit the record button. SCP-049 didn't seem to care in the slightest. All it did was look at Jessie. Said researcher decided to get his act together and stop being so scared. 049 is behind a thick layer of glass. Nothing can happen to him. So Jessie walked towards the glass and looked SCP-049 dead in the eyes. Two amber colored orbs stared into his own. It was almost hypnotizing.
"You... you have bautiful eyes." Jessie couldn't help but admit. 049 nodded slowly, raised his arm and touched the glass with his hand. Jessie copied its movement, the cold glass tingling under his fingers.
"So do you." 049's voice echoed out of the speaker and in the room. A long moment of silence caused the atmosphere in the room to change drastically. Jessie's fear from before seemed to have vanished completely. He felt rather... good. He didn't even bother that the two researchers had started whispering to each other, all he could focus on right now was SCP-049 and how surprised Jessie was that 049 didn't seem to be as scary as he thought and heard it was.
The sound of the gate opening made everyone in the room quiver and turn towards the gate. Dr. Shu came running inside, breathing heavily. Her black hair, usually tight to a bun, fell into her face as she bent forward, trying to catch her breath.
"I am so sorry Jessie," she huffed, "my conversation with Dr. Gordon had lasted longer than I thought."
"Ah, it-it's okay." Jessie answered, feeling a bit pulled out of his thoughts. The other two researchers approached Dr. Shu.
"Hello there, Dr. Shu. I assume you are here for inspection?" the woman asked, shaking Dr. Shu's hand. The Asian woman shook her head.
"Nope, I am actually here to tell you two to leave this room. SCP-049 is no longer under your wing. Order from the higher ups and such." Dr. Shu smiled. The woman's face changed into a mask of displeasure. She reluctantly grabbed her stuff, told her colleague to do the same and walked towards the gate. She turned around, looking at Jessie.
"Have fun down here, boy." she said and left, her colleague chasing after her in a hurry. The gate closed with a loud metalic sound.
"Well then, now that that is over." Dr. Shu mumbled. She noticed SCP-049 standing behind the glass, smiled and apporached the box with no sign of fear whatsoever. She put a hand on Jessie's shoulder, patting him on the back.
"Good day to you, SCP-049. I can see you two get along just fine! From today on foreward, myself and this handsome gentleman right here will work with you!"
SCP-049's eyes wandered from Jessie to Dr. Shu and back. It nodded.
"Jessie... That's a very nice name." it mumbled. Jessie could feel his face getting warmer. Was he blushing? He turned around, so that SCP-049 and Dr. Shu couldn't see his embarrassed face. The woman laughed, patting Jessie on the back one more time before grabbing some papers fromΒ  the desk. Jessie sat down next to her and they started getting over the documents and papers, with SCP-049 watching them calmly from afar.
