Description
This is day 18 of the new Hey Arnold Creative Ideas ([link] ) 30 Day Drawing Challenge: Surrealism with meaning and/or a storyEven though surrealism was one of the challenges last time, the creator of this challenge said that too few people had a story or meaning behind their submission, so we're re-doing it with stories/meaning. Even though I DID have a story/meaning for my last surrealism ([link] ), I wanted to try again. I mean, the point of these challenges is to challenge ourselves, and I couldn't really figure surrealism out last time. Sadly, even in the 2nd go at this and 2nd time "studying" the style, I still have no clue what surrealism is beyond oil-painting looks, lots of clouds, and things that would be impossible in the real world. So that's what I tried to do within the context of the deeper meaning.
Here's the story: Life can be really confusing, stormy, and dark at times, especially when we're trying to find our way. But we can get through all those things because of all the things featured here. Grandma taught Arnold to "look up" and a song that would remind him of this and guide him along the way. That's why the path is made up of musical notes and it's the bright spot of clouds among all the stormy ones. Our family members are usually the first ones to help us along our journey, so that's why both Grandma and Grandpa are at the beginning, lifting Arnold up. We rely on our friends for support too, which is why Gerald is the next one to help Arnold. Sometimes we fall and can't find our footing, but somehow, as if helped by a guardian angel, we manage to get back on track and we become more determined than before. That's why Helga is an angel with cloud wings, and her ribbon is his path since she secretly helped Arnold when he was losing faith or hope several times in the series. Sometimes we reach a dead end, and can't figure out a way to the next part. But as Eugene reminded Arnold you should "never give up on hope, it's a life-saving rope" so he's pulling Arnold up even though he himself is stumbling. That's because we are still capable of helping others, even when we're just as lost. Sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith, and trust that you'll be able to do something, just like Pigeon man trusted that his pigeons would be able to help him fly. That's why Arnold is jumping and there's a pigeon in the cloud. Towards the end of the series, Helga helped Arnold outright, and their friendship/later on romance likely help Arnold as he's searching for his parents during the Jungle Movie. Fate helps too, which is how Arnold came across the map in his dad's journal and gave him hope that he could find his parents. Thus he has finally reached the bright goal, which is finding his parents.

Yay for you! Putting out all that effort both times. You really push yourself and it's awesome. I love the look and the notes and Eugene clinging to one of them (Had to sneak him in, eh?)
Such a cute concept. Love Pookie at the piano.

Awww thanks so much!
Yay, I'm so glad you love the look and the characters in it! Haha Eugene in there was more so because he's the character with the most hope and upbeat attitude so it'd be weird if he wasn't in the pic.
