Page 3it takes me 3 pages to get to my first KO, this is taking forever. I am kinda proud about how that ice turned out.
I was actually really excited to find out Chief was taking on Hugh, because he had a bastiodon, rampardos's opposite. Bastiodon and rampardos are some of my favorite 4th gen pokemon (and I don't really like most 4th gen) So here comes a sweet dinosaur rumble!

Y'know, I hated bastiodon too when D/P was first released, but the thing kinda grew on me. I like shieldon though, they're pretty cute.

I didn't know Ramparidos could be so bouncy! That ice beam was really sweet, looking at him I would never have expected him to be one to learn it.
I love Chief in that very first panel, he's doing the epic point pose and he's even got the awesome background to go with it!
WOO and now the two 4th gen Dinosaurs are gunna battle it out! can't wait for the next page!

Thanks! they can use ice beam from a TM, though it is a ppor choice of a move to teach them, since it's damage is determined by Special attack, and a rampardos's attack stat is about 3X higher than their Spec Attack stat. I gave it to him because i wanted him to have a ranged/beam attack, so i don't bore the hell out of everyone by just translating all of Jormund's attacks into head butts.

If I told you about the other surprises, they wouldn't be surprises (and that also means I would actually have to plan surprises instead of just make them up as deadlines get closer)
I was kinda hoping no one would ask about Jormund's horn, because the story i have in my head is rediculous:
Millions of years ago during dinosaur pokemon times, Jormund was the leader of his herd of rampardos. He had to constantly deffend his herd against mean mamoswine (giant pig mastodons, ugly new 4th gens if you haven't seen 'em yet) Jormund got into a brutal fight with the alpha of the mamoswine herd. During the fight, Jormund was beaten badly, his horn was broken and he was frozen by the mamoswine's ice attacks. Jormund stayed frozen for millions of years untill Chief found him in a block of ice in the mountains while snowboarding.
W00t, so yeah, goofy ass backstory that is more than subject to change.

Ummm Rampardos against Mamoswine. I hate break your backstory but Rampardos is a dinosaur and Mamoswine is large Mammoth like mammal. Rampardos lived during the Dinosaur Pokemon Age, just like in the real world, mammal would not diversise in size and niches unless there was Great Cataclysm at the end of Dino Pokemon Age that cause a mass extection and any Saurian Pokemon that did surive would exist in isloated locations and in diminshed forms like the pre-evolve forms. Mammalian pokemon would quickly fill the ecological vacuum after the Great Cataclysm and would become the dominate large lifeforms eventutly resulting in the evolution of humans and pretty much everything becomes what you see in the games, anime and Manga series. Mamoswine existed during the last Ice Age which means that Rampardos existed and died out before Mamoswine even evolved, meaning it would be unlikely Jormund have ever meet a Mamoswine unless he was a part of those relic populations that showhow survive somewhere near the tropics and long enough all those millions of years to the ice age where those isolated populations would come into contact with mammals.

Yeah, I know how it works, but, I just felt like simplifying and putting all prehistoric pokemon into one era, thats partially why I never officially posted his backstory. Also, you put waaaaaaay to much thought into this.

I knew there was a cool story involved with Jormund, couldn't you just replace his horn with a held item, like Quick Claw? Kabutops was always my favorite dino pokemon though.
I have to ask another nerdy question. Do regular animals exist in the world of pokemon or is everything just a pokemon? For example, do people eat Miltanks or cows? You know, lets just throw another pikachu on the grill! I've always pondered this.

Kabutops is not a dinosaur pokemon, it is a giant sea scorpion that evolved from the trilobite pokemon Kabuto. Trilobite and Sea scoprions died long before the first dinosaur ancestor even crawled out of the swamps of the Permian period.

y'know, i never thought about replacing his horn with something.
I don't think there are animals in the pokemon world, and I believe people eat pokemon, i remember something way back on red/blue about how farfetch'd are going extinct because they are a delecasy and they carry around their own leek seasoning. I dunno, its not really dealt with, though i think in the cartoons you'll see the characters eat burgers and ham and whatnot, maybe its all tofu substitute though.

Man your comic so far looks so awesome! I love your dinos so much and I agree, the ice on this page looks awesome! Can't wait to see how Chief wins this battle. Loving the camera angles too, it's really inspiring for me and my entry WIP, haahaha.

I'm actually getting a suprising amount of poitive feedback on these pages. I didn't think I'd do to well, cuz I have to drastically cut the quality of my art for speed, I don't draw comics much, so its not really a medium I'm comfortable in, and I don't draw in manga style, nor does my trainer fit any standard anime hero conventions.

I think your being a little 'over critical' on yourself.
These look very good, even if you feel your cutting
corners, and recycling and such- I don't believe
I would have noticed any of that if you hadn't said so. Your colors look soo nice, and your story is gripping- what more do you need?
Regarding the: "I don't draw comics much"
You should make a habit of it. :3
