Description So, from now on, I'm going to be doing the first page in color, and the rest in greyscale like this, because these take about 1/3 the time. I've also been very busy lately, so, the faster the better, eh?

Since the uprising, the old judges have been eliminated. Because of this, I had no NPC judge to introduce the battle, so, for this round, that masked jester will have to do.

Also, Jormund is such a badass, that it is very hard to draw him looking scared.

The way you showed Jormund watching the surf freeze was cool.

Thats great
I really like the grey-scale,

you can turn these out quicker. :3

Awesome <3 Love the battle so far, and how Chief is acting like a beast. Great prospectives, and the gray and blue work well together. The less ammount of color seems to go with teh Ren-Fair to me for some reason. Keep it up and cant wait for MOAR

LOVE the ice beam pannel, and now the wave lie almost touched his head. That was close!

Jormund is fucking amaizng. You've inspired me to get a ramparados in my Platinum team

Nice! I'm happy I could convert someone into a rampardos lover. I'm surprised I'm the only person in PCBC with one on my team, they are one of the coolest looking 4th gen monsters, but I'm kind of biased, and not a big fan of most 4th gen pokemon.

Yeah yeah, I only like a few of them too. I like the Lucario family and the Skuntank family, and Gliscor and Arceus...adn a few others too.

I hope you were referencing Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame with the jester there. GREAT action and storytelling as always! Your comics are so fun to read!

chief-orc In reply to merely-mango [2009-02-03 18:27:43 +0000 UTC]

yeah, its a fairly obvious nod to Hunchback. So far, this round has had some pretty on the nose movie references, with the Jurassic Park style dinosaur stomping on the last page and all. Its just so much easier to write these things when I can "borrow" (OK, steal) from known material. Don't hate me, I'm lazy.

Thanks though, I'm happy you like the action and all. Stick around, cuz this fight is just gettting started!

I love seeing references like that, though! And they are so fun to do. I'm totally sticking around, I'm on the edge of my seat! :d

lol that first panel.... Chief gnawing away at the leg-of-whatever just makes him seem so big and barbaric; those teeth!

I love the use of that blue wash in the "ohcrap" and the Ice-beam charge-up panels; in fact those two are probably some of my favorite from this page on their own. The hints of colour really just gives them that extra edge.
Really innovative use of that ice beam too; Jormund had a pretty close call there (:!!

I like the addition of the jester aswell; it's a nice way to keep that Ren-fair theme going throughout the pages.

Great start! Can't wait to see how this all unfolds!

Its gonna take more than a sruf attack to take out tricky ol' jormund

Freeze the water... that's a good one! I love the Jester and the 'ye olde' theme going on. Looking forward to more of these comics.

A good solution.
Its better than colourless, but consumes less time.
will you still colourate such elemental attacks?

Thanks. Oh yeah, I'll probably keep coloring the attacks.

With grey scale looks so pretty, specially as in the battle you're dressed as medieval ppl :3

Nice start of the battle!

This is actually a really fun battle, Jormund and Fracture are my favorite team members.

Ch-Chief! Who told you I like jesters?

*ahem* thanks for the Rampardos lesson, by the way. I'm amused that it can learn Ice Beam, for some reason. Very representative of your current viking motif, at any rate... I think...

I didn't know you liked jesters, but, now you should um, double like this battle, and um, that jester is friends with your trainer. Sure.

Ha ha! in round 1 Jormund used ice beam, and I got a few "rampardos can learn ice beam?" comments. I guess nobody expects the ice beam.

SuperMarthAndRoy64DS In reply to chief-orc [2009-02-03 09:04:07 +0000 UTC]

Well, I was surprised Aggron could learn Thunderwave. Or was it Shock Wave? Whatever, either one is kind of weird, so it must be a dinosaur thing or something. Nothing wrong with that, though. :>

...Oh! Now that I look back at this page a second time, the grayscale is complimented nicely by the fact that the only other color you used was blue for Surf. ...Not counting the red flags, but they worked in that panel nicely.

So yeah, now I uh, like this page doubly. For sooth!

Oh god damn I did the same thing with tinting the water blue but leaving the rest greyscale.

Uh...great minds think alike I guess? XDD

I'm totally digging how you're making the battle so far though.

Jormund just crapped his pants like 4 times in this page alone. Your poor pokemon, Chief!

and talking about the uprising, am I the only one who's upset that the judges are also contestants in the PCBC?

Kinda makes me feel like some people are being judged unfairly. Just my 2 cents, anyways.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chief-orc In reply to misternewuzer [2009-02-03 07:03:58 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, the crap those poor guys have to go through.
I'm not sure how everything is being dealt with regarding the ex-judges, their trainers and whatnot. I'm pretty sure the new judges don't have trainers in the tourney, so, I guess in those regards, its more fair for those of us that aren't judges.

Jormund looks more concerned than scared.
BUT THIS IS BADASS, BY THE WAY. I like the idea of doing mostly grayscale stuff and as you see I have switched to it myself. The comics lose none of their intensity with limited colour.

The "oh crap" Chief face is priceless.

omgomgomg Good luck finishing the rest, I can't wait to see them!

chief-orc In reply to goodcitizen [2009-02-03 07:07:36 +0000 UTC]

Um, thats because Jormund feels no fear.
