Description Source: Averfell

Name: Kota

Nickname(s)/Alias: Specimen/Subject 338

Age: ??? (Appears early to mid 20s)

Height: 5’5” (165cm)

Weight: 140lb (64kg)

Race/Nationality: Human?

Personality: Kota is a reserved and highly intelligent fellow. Having woken up with amnesia, he’s adapted to his new environment by learning through observation then by interaction once he’s become familiar with a subject. It was through this means that he learned language and fighting styles later. In him there is also a sense of fearlessness. Soon after learning about the Paladin order, he stormed off to join. The Paladins, being wayfinders and guardians of humanity, often go into uncharted territories to slay monsters and retrieve resources. He hopes that on these journeys he may find clues to his past.

Bio: Specimen 338 was discovered three years ago in a subterranean dungeon by a Paladin, Seeker Class Auburn McGrath. 338 was extracted and immediately sent to Research & Development for stabilization and observation.

In the following years, the scientists kept 338 is a closely monitored lab where they ran tests on his cognition. 338 began having reoccurring dreams of a raven and falling into an ocean. With these dreams came a new ability, zephyrmancy. Though his control was limited, 338 had the power to manipulate wind.

One day, Auburn and her crew made an emergency landing at base. One of her teammates was gravely injured by an unknown wound and was falling fast. When the medics began treatment, however, the injured suddenly morphed into a beast and went awol. It tore its way through the base spouting jargon and making a beeline toward 338. 338 defended himself using his limited powers for a while, but something about the beasts mad ramblings got to him. It was a language he never heard, but he could understand bits and phrases, and he too felt the madness and power growing inside. Thanks to quick thinking on Auburn’s part, the beast was put down, but 338 was left reeling with visions. When he came back to, he only remembered two things. First, a three-legged raven beckoning 338 to search him out. Second, he remembered a single name, Kota.

In hopes of finding the truth behind his vision, a newly named Kota volunteered immediately to join Auburn’s crew and search the world for clues.

Fun Facts:

-Kota's eyes change color. Normally they are blue but glow gold in times of duress.

-Kota’s sword looks normal at first, but the blade turns black at his touch. The type of steel is unknown to modern science but it seems to have a similar molecular structure to damascus.

-Kota is a Zephyrmancer, a wind magician. He can “push” powerful bursts of air which he uses to augment his sword strikes and increase his mobility. However, he cannot “pull” the wind nor keep a continuous stream going.

-Story-wise, he is inspired heavily from Achilies from the Iliad and Zero from the Megaman Zero series. A friend recently introduced me to The Legacy of Kain series and so I tried to sprinkle a little bit of Raziel in there too.

-Design-wise, he is based off of Kenshin from “Rurouni Kenshin” (“Samurai X”) with a touch of Nanashi from “Sword of the Stranger.”
